Senate and House sources tell me that virtually nothing is happening or is expected to come out of White House talks. When asked what dealmaking might be going on, a House aide replied, “Nothing real yet.” A Senate source with knowledge of the behind-the-scenes work told me that senators are “still talking about what would be added to the debt disapproval plan before it would be considered by the Senate.” As for the White House meetings he added, “They are now completely irrelevant.” I am further told that the modification of the McConnell deal involves putting in place a set of agreed cuts. Would this entice House Republicans? Maybe. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) doesn’t rule it out, saying of the McConnell plan that the House he “didn’t want to give up on spending cuts.” But if the McConnell plan included spending cuts? Well, then we might get somewhere.
Two options are possible. In the first a commission styled on the base closing commission, made up of congressmen and senators, would identify cuts and the House and Senate could stage an up or down vote. The number of such commissioners and the timing of the votes are under discussion. The second option is to graft on top of that a set of cuts ($1.5 trillion or so) identified in the Biden meetings.
Several other bits of data confirm that a deal, if one is to be made, won’t be one over which Obama presides. The verbal assault by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Virg.) isn’t designed to make a deal; it’s designed to find a fall guy and an excuse for the collapse of the White House talks.

As a matter of fact, if I were Speaker Bohner, I would INSIST that all talks on the debate be done with an open camera going, CSPAN or whatever, and tell the media that Obama promised “the most open government in history”, and we Republicans are going to provide coverage of these debates.
I bet Obama would never show up, and if he was shown debating, acting like a child, without a script, it would sink him even worse.
Let the American people see what a Chicago Shakedown looks like.

I am not arguing with the strategy offered, but I need to ask is this YOUR strategy or does the idea come to you from someone somewhere in the GOP in Congress?
The difference in the answer defines the weight of the strategy - not how good or bad it is, but whether or not it has actual legs.
It's easy to allow one's emotions and philosophy to obscure reality. It happens to me most of the time...and only after time do I season my opinions.
I have to say: If the debt ceiling is not raised before the Treasury runs out of options besides dollar shifting...there will be a bonafide sh!tstorm.
Cutting $1.5 trillion (43%) from Federal Expenditures and the resulting transfer payments to states will certainly reduce GDP by about 7% (commie bastards count govt expenditures in GDP), it will also likely result in several cities being burned to the ground.
This will not be a small event. It is NOT trivial.
But, it IS necessary.
We MUST have every US Senator on record.
More than once is ideal.
There are at least 15 Democrat Senators up for election in 2012 from Red or Swing States.
The last thing they want to do is take a vote on the budget and deficit. That's been the core strategy of the dim party from the outset.
Their strategy is to have the Democrat Senators vote only once, and then vote only on a bipartisan agreement.
Break that firewall and we will have won this thing hands down.
We would pull NO LESS than 10 Democrat votes in the Senate and would possibly break the filibuster threshold of 60 Senators overall.

What you need to do is keep meeting minutes and then read the previous meetings minutes at the start of the next meeting.
Then sit back and watch Obama argue with himself.

All of the Old Testament is talking to/about the Jews (Hebrews). So with the Gospels. So with the Book of Revelation. That does not mean that any specific passage or quote form any of those portions of Scripture can’t be applied in non-Jewish (Hebrew) situations or to non-Jews (Hebrews).
That’s a matter of option....the scriptures speak of the Israelites...which aren’t jews. Again...WHAT!!! Jesus in those scriptures is speaking to the jews...not you or me...we are warned about doing just what you are doing to the scriptures...inventing something so contrary to the true meaning...oh gee...never mind.
