California Senate approves financial aid for illegal alien students

On Thursday, the California State Senate approved a measure which will allow illegal aliens attending college to receive financial aid.

Assembly Bill 130, which passed by a vote of 26-11 lets illegal aliens, paying in-state tuition rates accept privately funded scholarships.

The bill’s sponsor, Assemblyman Gil Cedillo (D-L.A.), has introduced this same legislation every year since 2005.

While former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger always vetoed the measure, current Gov. Gerry Brown is expected to sign the bill. In fact, during Brown’s campaign, he promised to maker it easer for illegal aliens to attend college by extending them financial aid. Assemblyman Cedillo has introduced a bill which would make illegal alien students eligible for state-funded financial aid as well. However, it is now stalled in committee.

California is one of a dozen states that offer in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens.

Connecticut, Texas, Utah, New York, Washington, Illinois, Kansas, New Mexico, Nebraska, Maryland and Wisconsin all offer the lowered rates at public colleges and universities.

California is trying to go completely broke beyond repair before 0bama gets out of office and have the fed's (who don't have a dime either) bail them out on taxpayers children's nickels.

I'm getting to think that even IF the GOP gets everything they want in Washington with cutting spending and shrinking government, the dimocrat's will find a way to put us right back on the path of financial destruction we are on now, once again.

“OK...evreyone here in California who has excess money get into this line. Everyone who wants money from them please stand in this line. Now, people in the first line start handing money to the people in the second line. See, one person can do the whole work of the California government.”

"Rd Carrington · Duke University If one of my tax dollars was going for this, I'd have to seriously consider not paying. This will force legal citizens to be aiding illegal activity - thought THAT was a crime?"

Can any Legal Beagle throw some educated light on this comment? Does anyone have 'standing' to bring an action singly or severally against a government entity.

California is proof that liberalism is a failed philosophy.

Who needed proof? Just look at a map of the world: Central America, Cuba, N.Korea, Russia, China....

THOSE failed countries have been staring us in the face for decades. The demonstrable and very visible record of their failed/underperforming economies, oppression, instability, lack of social mobility, human rights violations, discord, hunger, disease, poverty, voilence, unrest... etc., are hardly privileged information!! Right?

yep. insanity. and legal taxpayers (including legal immigrants!) are paying for criminals who entered CA illegally.

i read that the CA deficit, and the cost to CA of illegal immigrants, coincidently is about the same - 25 billion.

Great!.....I remember the days when out of state Americans had to pay a lot more to attend schools in California than residents had to pay. What a joke this has all turned into!

It's almost impossible for out of state Americans to get into California graduate schools even if you're paying out of state tuition.

They have a screw loose out there ~ maybe even two or three screws loose.

It's one of the few states where you can gain state residency and access to the lower in-state rates in a single semester. The selection committees are of the impression that grad students select CA schools ONLY for that in-state rate and that counsels their choices.

The only people who end up paying out of state rates for very long are foreign students here lawfully.

Government used to be about getting the most effective and efficient use out of the taxpayer’s hard earned dollars. Now, it’s just about easy jobs for the Democrats.
