A Tennessee man sustained a punctured lung and cracked ribs following a brutal beating from a team of police deputies - while he already in handcuffs.
After being stripped naked, the man was kicked and shocked repeatedly with a Taser gun. The January 23 incident was caught on tape by video equipment fixed to the vehicle of a Humphreys county sheriff deputy.
The victim, Darren T. Ring, 34, of New Johnsonville is requesting to be released from jail where he has been held in lieu of bond for more than five months.
Humpreys County deputies descended on Ring after responding to a report of gunshots in Waverly. Ring was not arrested for firing the shots but was drunk when the deputies arrived, reports show.
In a grand jury indictment, Ring was charged with three counts of assaulting an officer, resisting arrest, and a parole violation.
However, the video footage shows deputies repeatedly telling Ring to stop resisting arrest while he is incapacitated laying facedown in the snow with at least two deputies on top of him

"...video footage shows deputies repeatedly telling Ring to stop resisting arrest while he is incapacitated laying facedown in the snow with at least two deputies on top of him..."
if those guys cant handle them they need to work as something elseOverpaid government hacks, with their eyes on the Pension Prize. Only these hacks are "armed and dangerous".
Good to know that the cops are on our side/ sarc.
>>But I’m sorry, all this guy had to do is roll over<<
There are at least five cops. They couldn’t roll him over?
So they had to beat and kick?
Sorry, I disagree with the degree of force.
We don't see what happened leading up to him being in cuffs. We have no sense if the guy had been violent prior to that.
The guy wasnt kicking anyone or otherwise being aggressive. Why the kicks to the ribs? Really? Why the violence against a naked man whose only resistance was refusing to turn over on his stomach in the snow?
Once again, let's see the entire story here - the video starts in mid-stream.
I think that a drunk moron, lying nake in the snow after he has been, cuffed, tasered and beaten and yet five cops still can’t handle him speaks volumes on the professionalism and the training of the five cops
>>”...video footage shows deputies repeatedly telling Ring to stop resisting arrest while he is incapacitated laying facedown in the snow with at least two deputies on top of him...” <<
Amazing.
Just want to get the baton suckers view in: he may be a liberal community activist and deserves all that he gets.
These thugs are so stupid they are doing it under the watchful eye of three witnesses.
Cameras appear to be the only thing protecting us from the government thugs these days.
We don't see what happened up to the point he was handcuffed and on the ground. He could have given the cops reason to be concerned at that point. The cops did have the Taser brought over and gave him warning prior to Tasing him.
My point is, y'all are always judging on first impressions, and the guy's lawyer is the one driving this story. Not exactly a neutral party.
Dumbass cops have killed more than one person this way
They all pile on top until he cannot breathe and then when the guy starts struggling for air they yell “stop resisting” until he is dead
NOT ALL COPS ARE DUMBASSES -my son is a cop and my brother is FBI, I was SP in the air force and reserves and worked for many agencies afterwards - there ARE dumbasses just like in every other profession
We can go with what we see on the video. The guy is NOT resisting other than not turning over. And maybe he COULDN’T after being tasered.
But either way, the taser rendered him incapacitated.
If the beatings and kickings are related to something BEFORE the video started, then the violence is vindictive and abusive.
Otherwise, it is unnecessary, as the guy is NOT aggressive.
We don't get to see what happened up to the point he is handcuffed and on the ground. That's my point. You don't have the whole story here. He could have been violent during arrest. The video would have more credibility for judgement if we were able to see what led up to this.
I've dealt with drunk a-holes before. No fun.
He was tasered for not turning over. Which is ridiculous, but cops LOOOOVE their tasers.
...He was warned in no uncertain terms that he would be tazed if he didn’t roll over.....
He also said he couldnt roll over...I wonder if the cops do this to their dog if he doesnt roll over? Maybe they just shoot him? This is a disgrace.
Well, he refused to BEFORE being tasered. And he could have attempted to harm the cops during arrest. We don't know.
I see no justification for the beating and the kicking.
We’ll leave it at that.
Competent people figure out how to handle things, and this seems like a pretty simple, pretty ordinary, thing for competent cops to be able to handle.
This was not an impressive group of cops.
He was given warning BEFORE being Tased. Once again, do we know if he had fought and/or resisted before getting handcuffed?
I think a review is due for seeing if, upon the suspect being Tasered, if there should be a change in procedure, because at that point the person could well have a physical reason to not be able to roll over. But I don't see a problem with him getting Tased initially. And drunken morons are a real threat even if handcuffed.

Which part of the video was vile and stupid? Which part of the video adds “nothing to the discussion? Which part of the video damages the integrity of this site?
Do you think things should be kept under wraps and swept under the rug?
