You probably aren’t too far off with pointing out she likely has a useless degree or she would have be able to land a job of some sort job. Even a crappy one.
BTW - I wonder how she likes all that hope and change that came her way.
We were so poor, Dad had to have the plane tied down (outside!) because we couldn’t afford the hangar rent....
Yep. It reminds me a of a friend of our oldest daughter. Nice 'girl', we've known like forever and she calls me Papa 'G' and my wife Mama 'G' - but - she's a lib (and so his her wussy husband). So she went to college, graduated, and was handed her nice shiny new degree -- a BA in Psychology. But she never had any plans to get a Masters or PhD. So her BA Degree is USELESS(1).
She's had numerous jobs working all at Pre-Schools, not Teaching, just really baby-sitting. However like most libs she has a 'tiny'(/s) ATTITUDE PROBLEM and was always telling off the parents on how to raise their kids. So Bingo, it was -- 'You're Fired!'
So she's bounced from meaningless job to meaningless job and has another lousy job again. Will she ever learn or change, nope. So she better hope her hubby can keep whatever job he has (I've never asked as I don't want to laugh at him, he might cry)(really).
(1) I think all BA degrees are useless. If it's not a BS, as in 'Science', it's a meaningless piece of paper as your head was filled with liberal feel good claptrap from the likes of Bill Ayers.
(I've been in Mechanical Engineering my whole career so 'science' is everything to me.)
Feelings can make a Finite Element Analysis better, can't they? What would a Bill of Materials be without emotional input? A process flow chart is just a little less effective without a dash of poetry.
I've designed a gazinta or two in my time. Perhaps it shows...
Obama voters all, disappointed in The Won and his destructive, chaotic, job-killing, marxist socialist faculty-lounge policies. But can they admit it’s his fault? No. They’re so dumb they’ll vote for him again in 2012.
Maybe she (I assume it's a she?) should have majored in math or science instead of "womyns' studies" and "gender confusion studies." Any college course with "studies" in its title is a complete waste of time and money in the real world.
I am sick to death of pretending that holidays don't exist because I can't afford to celebrate them.
He stared down at Who-ville!
The Grinch popped his eyes!
Then he shook!
What he saw was a shocking surprise!
Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any presents at all!
He HADN'T stopped Christmas from coming!
IT CAME!
Somehow or other, it came just the same!
And the Grinch, with his grinch-feet ice-cold in the snow,
Stood puzzling and puzzling: "How could it be so?
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
"It came without packages, boxes or bags!"
And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store.
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"
This comment, and one I got via freepmail, plus one over at the blogspot, got me to thinking.
Sometimes doing satire is walking a tightrope, and I'm not always as successful in how it comes across as I would like. This was probably one of those times. I apologize.
What I was *trying* to satirize was:
a) the overdone parallel-construction writing style that they have a tendency to use,
b) the free-floating rant about the economy, when the policies of the president they voted for have only made things worse, and they don't recognize that,
c) the expectation that the government should fix their lives for them, and
d) the whining about having to economize, when a lot of us are already having to do that, and we're not writing long-winded rants about it.
BTW, the writer is not a single mother, she has a husband, and he is employed.
I *am* sensitive to being unemployed or underemployed. Both my wife and I have gone through that in recent years. We ourselves are struggling financially.
Also, how I would deal with the writer on a *personal*, one-on-one level, if I knew her, would be different than when I am writing political satire for laughs.
Again, maybe I didn't walk the fine line as well as I should have in this DUFU. I'm sorry that I offended some. And I'm glad that most all of you enjoy *most* of the DUFUs!

I do enjoy J the DUFUs, and this wasn't bad at all. Most of these people bring a lot of this on themselves, by living outside their means before they realize they are in trouble. My wife quit working when our daughter was six months old. She has never gone back to work and just keeps the house in shape.
Three years ago, we bought her a new car. That was the first new car she has ever had. My last new vehicle was in 1979. We have paid our mortgage off three years ago on my salary alone. We learned to live within our means, and seldom eat out, other than on special occasions.
No worries here.
Personally I think these people have very much earned what they face yet I also have compassion for them and wish them no real harm.
I’ve got a lot of liberal cousins who are now looking to me for help and I see it as a means of showing them the reality of conservatism. I think they’re starting to enjoy their trips to the dark side. Pride in self sufficiency will do that.
Charles, I wouldn’t worry about it. I want a whole bunch of things too, (rain, cooler weather, to be younger, to drop a few pounds, to watch obozo hauled off in a straight jacket) but I am not on the Internet whining about them.
I had no problem with it. I was kinda stunned that she can’t afford toilet paper AND dog food but wants contact lenses, an appointment at a beauty salon and to eat out. Her priorities are a tad out of place. While I have compassion for those who are struggling (Taco Bell is a treat for me and I quit getting my hair done 3 years ago), she also appears spoiled and a whiner.
We know you, we know your background, and we know where you’re coming from with this satire piece. With over a 1K ping list you know you’re going to hit a raw nerve with some of us every once in a while, especially on a topic involving quality of life and personal misfortune, no matter how much the Dummie was begging for it.
My wife and I are struggling with a vastly reduced income with three kids living at home, if I ever started whining about our situation in public like she did feel free to satire it from Hades to back.
Abathar
As Howie Carr always says (quoting I wouldn't know who), self-pity is not good box office!
I want a pony. Obama promised me a pony, and he hasn’t given it to me yet.
The thing about it is, we could help people like this if we weren’t helping everyone else.
This woman is very sad but seriously, do you think that if she got a job tomorrow, she would see the error of her ways? No.
I confess DUFUs are a bit of a guilty pleasure. Even without the commentary, they are often unintentionally FUnny; with the commentary, they can be hilarious.
I work with plenty of liberals. There are those that live lives like a conservative but preach liberalism. These types are easy to do business with because you know they are simply hypocritical and will work on deals that are profitable for all parties. Then there are the moonbat liberals that live near poverty because they refuse to let others profit. If theres to be any profit, it has to all go to them. So nobody does a deal with them and all they do is whine about the unfairness of the capitalist system. DU and dKos seem to be populated mostly with the second type.
But there have been occasions when reading such rantings that I worry for the mental state of the author. How does one fix such derangement? If anything, what passes for psychology today only seems to reinforce the feelings of victimization.
Their psychosis prevents them from seeing their psychosis. I laugh because I would cry otherwise.
Nevertheless, the ideas promulgated by them do actual harm as real people, and to other real people. We can't really stand by and let their worldview triumph: it is diabolical in its origins, and its ultimate objective is the abolition of man.
We have to fight them on all fronts in that struggle, and one of the arenas is the comedic. Those of us more inclined to see history as comedy than tragedy will confront them there. But we must confront them everywhere. Or, as FReeper The Comedian's signature line so aptly says: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil in the world is for good men not to point at it and laugh."
Just so. The things they believe are ridiculous, and when their beliefs are carried into execution the result has inevitably been poverty, squalor, oppression and murder. And that is what we are (all of us, because it is a forum) mocking here, ultimately: the ideas.
I am not myself in the business of Salvation. That is a particularly personal front in The War between good and evil; it cannot be otherwise. Contrary to what our very deluded President and our adversaries at DU and in other places believe, their is no collective salvation, there is only the salvation of individual souls. So, from time to time I don't doubt that satire is difficult for someone in that business. But that is a different role, and there is no real conflict: it is the beliefs, the worldview, and the "solutions" that are really being trivialized in the DUmmie FUnnies, and not the people or their problems.
