Beyond the fact that a murderer has gone free with impunity, the second most loathsome part of all is the the braying jackasses (Geraldo, Mark Geragos, and so on,
ad nauseum) claiming how "strong this shows our system is." No, it shows our system is a human institution which consequently fails at times. You don't hear these same idiots turn out when a lawfully convicted murderer is finally executed; this actually proves that our system
does work. Or how about this: when Rubin Carter was wrongfully convicted of murders he spent 19 years in prison for, did that show "how strong our system is?"
Of course not.
And no prosecutor would show up on TV to say so.
Take comfort in what the Greeks observed long ago: character is destiny. You have not heard the last of Casey Anthony; her destiny still awaits her, because there are no fugitives from the Law of Karma.
