Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) is in the midst of a large-scale missile exercise called "Great Prophet 6." In an interview on the Arabic-language TV channel Al-Alam, Brig.-Gen. Amir Ali Hagizadeh discussed the IRGC exercise and its objectives. The extensive interview with Hagizadeh suggests that Iran is devoting much thought to its deterrence doctrine against those it regards as its main threats in the region, namely, Israel and the U.S. It is evident that Hagizadeh views Lebanon as a forward missile base for Iran.

Iranians, like the Iraqis, are jive talkers. He’s talking talking smack because he’s got nothing. If Israel or the United States, or both, were determined to destroy the Iranian military the result would be foregone conclusions. He’s like the Japanese in 1945, rallying the population to suicide attacks to make an invasion too painful for the Americans.

In the end, the confrontation with the West will only bring destruction to Iran, as it did to Japan.

Americans should not occupy Middle Eastern countries, merely destroy them militarily and hope they learn.

You've got this wrong. Iran wants war, the bigger, the more dead the better. Only by the mass killing of millions - using nuclear weapons - will the 12th Imam be lured out of the Well and lead all mankind to Paradise - aka the total extinction of the human race.

This is the Iranian leadership's religious dream and has been since the Revolution. The number of Iranians killed is immaterial; they are just myrtars and more encouragement for the guy in the Well.

Unlike the Russians, Germans and Japanese, these guys are loons certifiable. The mistake is to conflate them with Iran.

Iran fully intends to use their nukes once they are operational and have sufficient numbers... Tel Aviv, Rome, NYC are the most important targets.

Islamic nations never “learn”. They just wait. They are simply following the tactics laid out in the koran, sunnahs and hadiths. Only by destroying the Rock in Mecca will Islamic nations “learn” that Islam is false and turn away.

Russia and the Germans I agree, not the Japanese. Look at it this way, there has never been a large last stand in the entire history of Islam. They are ruthless in attack and have no qualms about executing prisoners. But when their backs are up against the wall, they cut a deal or run away. If their leader is losing the war it is Allah's will that he lose. And what good Muslim will oppose Allah's will, or be on the losing side if they can avoid it.

The Japanese in contrast always retained discipline and order even when the situation was hopeless. There may be defeats in Japanese history, but there are no panicked routes. You can annihilate a Japanese army, but getting one to surrender or break is nearly impossible. Even at the end of the war they didn't surrender, until their emperor told them to. Still obeying the leader, even though the war was clearly lost.

The Iranians have the wild, screaming, manic fanaticism. The World War II Japanese had that quiet, calm, fatalistic fanaticism that is way scarier. Islamic leaders send the useful idiots out to die while they stay safe in a bunker or in a mansion in Pakistan. The WW II Japanese leaders grabbed a sword and lead the charge into Marine machine guns, or committed suicide to inspire their troops.

It may have been a different brand of crazy than the guys we are fighting now. But they were crazy at a cultural level none the less.

This is a religious war, not a cultural or political war. The Iranian Shiites sect controlling Iran does not want anything except the return of the 12th Imam - and the only way that happens is if millions die, and the 12th Iman will begin the process of killing all human beings that they may enjoy the fruits of Paradise.

This sect is not the same as those in any other muslim country. Not the same aims, goals nor behavior. They believe those who oppose them - from which ever set of Islam - oppose allah and must also die. There is no winning or losing side as far as they are concerned.

The Iranians are not interested in cutting deals or running away. They only want everyone dead - getting and using nuclear weapons (at the first opportunity) are their first steps in achieving their goal. That goal is all, and completely at odds with all previous enemies and all other forms/sects of Islam.

They are beyond crazy - way beyond.

Iranians, like the Iraqis, are jive talkers...

I wouldn't mis-underestimate their potential.
