Reports indicate the fire came within 50 feet of the grounds of the Los Alamos lab where plutonium was stored in a fabric material building. This is unexplainable, unacceptable, and came within feet of causing the worst disaster in US history.

This is a complete misreprentation from what I have read. The waste in question are articles such as clothing or tools that might have come into contact with radioactive materials. Waste such as plutonium is kept in a different secure facility.
