Chris Matthews is scared that the Tea Party influence on Republicans may result in this country going off the cliff and soon resembling Greece. Matthews told his guest Joan Walsh that he sees fanatics who dont believe the deadline for raising the debt ceiling is real and who seem very willing to let the country default on its loan obligations. And Walsh provided Matthews with little comfort to soothe his fears.
Walsh described the Republican position throughout these budget negotiations as economic hostage-taking and urged President Obama not to cave into this shrieking on the right that continues to unreasonably demand no taxes can be increased. Walsh also pleaded with Matthews, please dont put me on the far left because Im not. Matthews worried we will soon be viewed as a deadbeat country and argued there is no way to have a compromise without raising taxes.
Then in the final moments, as Walsh wrapped up her point about the need for Republicans to keep tax increases on the table, Matthews blurted out I agree its terrorism. The random statement was odd since nobody suggested anything about terrorism, leaving Matthews to not really agree with anyone. Maybe Matthews was just eager to wrap-up the segment and dropped such an extreme comparison to get Walsh to agree and stop talking, or maybe Matthews really thinks a stubborn Republican economic position amounts to terrorism? Either way, the rhetoric certainly seems to be heating up.
If I were in bad financial straits, I think I’d have better things to do than publicizing the moronic rantings of a barely-watched cable drunkard. But hey, that’s just me.
Mathews is just a friggin moron. Just shut up man. What you say isn’t even shocking anymore.
Go to Hell!
I suppose we could raise taxes for people who work for the government, particularly in ‘less constitutional’ fields like health, welfare, housing, education, agriculture, and medicine.
No, refusing to deeply cut spending is terrorism. Every demand they make is instantly legitimate, and any effort of us to stop them is terrorism. LOL
Is this correct?
Lighten up Tinglebell. Geeez.
Wouldn’t changing the tax code in debt negotiations be the crime here? Law abiding citizens get squeezed, while frivolous Democrats get to continue their wasteful spending spree. Wake up Leftball!!
Cutting Obama’s vacations and rounds of golf would save a $$$ of tax dollars.
HEY CHRIS!
What do you call Obama’s unwillingness to cut spending to the level the Debt Ceiling is raised?
yes because the Greeks just love to cut taxes and entitlement spending. /sarc
he's kind of right. we're going to resemble Greece soon but it isn't the fault of republicans who are trying to reign in debt.
I am very happy to see that my former country of residence, Slovakia, is second only to the much smaller country of Luxemburg.
I wonder why The Czech Republic is not listed.
There are two sides to every equation, Prissy Chrissy.
Seem to remembet that under Carter a payment was missed, perhaps in 1979? it’s been a while but I think it happened,
anybody help me out here?
Meybe 2012 election will bring a Ronald Reagan like Prez? but I can’t see anyone like him out there right now, but we live in hope
Chris:
Your refusal to acknowledge reality and deal with it justly makes you a loon and an intellectual homicider for dumb people.
Matthews wouldn’t know a terrorist if one planted a bomb under his ass.
