I heard part of a radio interview with Dick Morris the other day. He said Herman Cain was now in the 1st tier of GOP candidates (which he defined as currently being Romney, Bachmann, and Cain). He placed everyone else (including Pawlenty, Santorum, & Newt) are in the 2nd or 3rd tier.
Morris also had this to say on OReily about the GOP field:
the best credentialed candidate of any of them is Cain.
In the past, Dick Morris has totally discounted Cain. Now he has Cain as one of the leading GOP candidates; and not just in vote getting ability, but in experience.
Whether you like Dick Morris or not isnt the point here. The point is that he is an inside-the-beltway guy, and he has done a 180 on Herman Cain. Its an early positive sign that were making inroads with mainstream Republicansthe kind that previously havent taken Herman Cain seriously.
This is a good sign for Herman Cains chances, and it shows that our work isnt in vain. Were making progressa little at a time, but we are making progress.
He is NOT for a VAT is for the FAIR tax which is a retail sales tax.
the IRS is unconstitutional many would argue, and that is likely the main reason why herman talks about abolishing it.
it is not the value added tax... it is the fair tax.
a value added tax is not what cain is for...
the fair tax taxes all new products.

YES WE CAIN!
Cain’s business career is a far more sophisticated preparation for POTUS than a career as a *&!#$@% politician. He isn’t my first choice, but being the CEO of a successful company is far more valuable than giving speeches on the Senate floor or giving two minute speeches in the House.
Sure, just like everyone pays tax on everything they buy off the internet. The drug dealers are just going to volunteer their drug sale numbers and hand over the taxes.
” My turn for a question. What politicians do you know have that experience? “
NONE!
Raisin’ Cain.
I too will support a national retail sales tax. That is what Cain is promoting. I was wrong when I said a VAT.
I’ve looked at that, it was but the 16th Amendment clearly makes it Constitutional.
But we can all dream of the wonderful day when the Federal government will simply send one Tax Bill to each of the fifty States - x number of dollars per capita (in proportion to the Census) in accordance with Article I Section 9 of the Constitution.
Then each state would be free to raise that revenue however they wish. If the 16th Amendment was repealed and we changed over to that scheme, it would be phenomenally good for the nation, as it will
a) cause Congress to hear SCREAMING from their constituents and State Legislatures of inefficient States when Congress increases that dollar amount and
b) give an ENORMOUS kick in the butt-ocks to State Legislatures to reduce burdens on business within their State - the would all want to get their economies roaring so that per-capita flat amount tax was easier to afford when the Federal government sent the bills out.
For example, if the were $100 per person per year, that’s easy. If it were $14,500 per person per year, CA and some others would be screaming. States would want to REDUCE the number of people on their census - they’d gladly give up a seat in the House. All of them would SCREAM about Federal money going to the States like it does now - since it would only increase in a VERY DIRECT WAY what every State would have to raise. Since Federal dollars come direct from citizens, the States DO NOT CARE AT ALL about how high the Federal Income Tax bill is for Individuals and Corporations. My my, what would a State do ? How to lure in high-paying jobs and profitable businesses, so they could have a greater tax base per capita. If all their citizens made $100k per year or more, or all corporations chartered in their State were extremely profitable, it would be easy. But if income and wealth per capita in their State was low - ouch !
Should send the bills out every month so the States don’t get behind. If they get behind, the Feds can just confiscate State property (that’s what the Feds do to people and corporations). Oh, and see if Congress can get it to trump EVERY other State obligation. THAT is what happens with Federal Income Tax liabilities - they trump everything - even bankruptcy. Would the States like to pay their Federal Tax Bill before paying their own employees and debt obligations ? Hmmm...
No, but the paper they buy will have tax on it. Their pipes to smoke it will have taxes. The chemicals themselves will have retail taxes, etcetera.
In many countries, the VAT starts out at 10%,
then 2 or 3 recessions later, it is 20%
Do you really want that?
>>Cain cant win. Period. Why should I vote for a pizza salesman??<<
What an ignorant statement.
This guy was another rockstar at the 2011 RLC in New Orleans and if I don’t see some hats thrown in the ring pretty soon, I will be behind the “Yes we Cain” camp too.
I’ve climbed aboard the “Cain Train” myself.
My fellow citizens, the American Presidency is not supposed to be a journey of personal discovery.
