Since we live in a craven age, let's salute our few heroes. Meet Jessica Felber, a 21-year-old Lioness of Judah, who's suing the University of California for failing to protect her civil rights.
Felber is a student activist at Berkeley who simply asserts her right to stand on campus and hold a sign saying, "Israel Wants Peace," without subsequently needing urgent medical attention. What Jew can count on that right on a UC campus these days?
In March 2010, Felber was violently assaulted by Husam Zakharia, the leader of Students for Justice in Palestine, as she peacefully held her sign at a pro-Israel event. UC authorities "were fully aware that Zakharia, the SJP and similar student groups had been involved in other incidents on campus to incite violence against and intimidate Jewish and other students," says her renowned lawyer, Neal Sher. Nevertheless, "[d]efendants took no reasonable steps to protect Ms. Felber and others."
Felber names UC President Mark Yudof in her lawsuit and therein lies a tale. Yudof took office in 2008 amidst a blaze of schmaltzy headlines like, "New University President Keeps Kosher, Loves Israel." Yudof boasted about his wife, Judy, the first woman to serve as international president of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, and proclaimed, "I am a very strong advocate of Israel."
Well, if you say so, sir. If by "very strong advocate of Israel," you mean using your powers as UC President to ignore 63 faculty members who wrote you, "We, faculty at the University of California-Irvine, are deeply disturbed about activities on campus that foment hatred against Jews and Israelis... Some community members, students, and faculty indeed feel intimidated, and at times even unsafe."

Very sad commentary here. The Jewish president of the largest university in the United States (including all the campuses) is lax in protecting the basic free speech rights of Jewish students and faculty on the campuses he oversees, against abuses from Islamist groups! Seems symptomatic of how far left the whole state government of California is.

The facts seem not to support the above. Jews are among the most educated, if not the most educated group in America.
Indeed, the socialist movement in America is largely a Jewish preserve in terms of leaders and important contributors.
In point of fact, the original Jews in America came to Neuw Amsterdam, and another group settled in Savannah, IIRC. They were not socialist.
Socialism entered American Jewish populations with the migrations from Europe in the 20th century. Those Jews were largely Marxist.
Another reason for American Jewish infatuation with collectivism, despite its severe negative impact in Germany, may be a confusion of the Mosaic Law call for a just society (think Moses) with socialism’s call for “social justice” (think Obama, S.E.I.U, ad nauseam).

Unfortunately, most of the political and historical education taught in public schools and universities in the last few decades is given a decidedly left slant, so merely passing through formal education and absorbing this BS does not cure anyone the ignorance which I mentioned in my last post.
One must be subject to other influences nowadays and be willing to engage in them in order to be deprogrammed. That generally requires the experience of meeting and associating with knowledgeable people, reading objective books and historical materials, and engaging in forums such as this.

True, you will find a disproportionate percentage of Jews among the leadership and important contributors in American socialism, but it isn't "largely a Jewish preserve." Look at the Obamaton Administration when you think of American socialism and try to figure out the percentage of Jews in prominent positions in it. Since Jews are less than 2% of the American population, you'll find that it's hardly "a Jewish preserve."

Excellent point. Jewish law calls for righteous justice, which essentially means a just judicial system, a fair and impartial way of resolving disputes within society. "Social justice" is a Marxist concept which demands that a central authority impose equal results on its individuals, regardless of disparate talents and capabilities within the population. The former is a recipe for freedom, the latter a recipe for tyranny.
