Liberal radio and TV host Thom Hartmann has been engaged in a bit of a feud with Glenn Beck’s The Blaze website over comments Hartmann made on his cable show The Big Picture. A few weeks ago, Hartmann suggested that President Obama retaliate against GOP opposition to raising the debt ceiling by having Tim Geithner cut funding to red states. The Blaze accused him of wanting to “starve people in red states.”
Hartmann now notes that Fox News’ Brit Hume has taken notice of the possible strategy, and suggests taking a step that’ll really hurt Republicans: closing all those buildings named after Ronald Reagan.
According to the GAO, if the debt ceiling is not raised, the Treasury Secretary has sole authority to decide which obligations get paid, and which do not. Hartmann’s idea, then is for the President, through Geithner, to pressure Republicans by cutting off funding to Republican states and districts first, and let those GOP congressmen explain to their constituents “why their food stamp cards don’t work, why their Social Security checks aren’t arriving, and the road repairs are all stopped, and half their schools are closing.”
He called it a “chainsaw” in the budgetary knife fight.
The Blaze zeroed in on the “food stamps” comment, and accused Hartmann of advocating mass starvation. On Thursday night’s The Big Picture, Hartmann took exception to The Blaze’s accusation, doubled down with his Reagan building suggestion, and also noted that Fox News’ Brit Hume has cottoned on to the same strategic possibility:

Yet they have no problem with naming a Senate office building after Richard B. Russell, the Senator who led the filibuster against the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

It would be political suicide and seen for what it is, petty political retaliation.
Of course Hartmann is for mass starvation. He’s a liberal.
Let’s hope that Obama would be stupid enough to do something like this jerk suggested. I believe the House would vote to impeach him with seven days. Granted the mindless dims would not allow a trial, but the ensuing floor fights would be amusing, particularly if the GOP had the stones not to allow a single bill to come up for a vote.

Well lets just start by closing all federal buildings named after Republicans. That way they can’t squawk. Then I propose a new tax. The aggravation tax. This tax will be paid directly by the government to any citizen they aggravate. It will also apply to the media. We will all soon be millionaires and they will be broke. Then we can get back to work,

Can’t tell you why you should give a sh*t, but I’m familiar with Hartmann’s books on ADHD (which he has), and a fairly recent book concerning the JFK assassination. He sure gets around, as does Beck, riddled with ADD, as he says.
Thom Hartmann:
Hartmann began his business career in the early 1970s while in his 20s, co-founding The Woodley Herber Company. Woodley Herber sold herbal products, potpourris and teas, and operated until 1978.
It was during this time that Hartmann obtained three degrees in herbology and homeopathic medicine, one of which was from a diploma mill.

All I ever needed to know about Thom Hartmann, was that Bernie Sanders is a regular on his show and that is supposed to be a good thing?
