The new album is excellent; harks back to their early new wave days, not so much their more polished (ie: often overproduced) later stuff.

I always have liked this band... both for their music and for choosing to use a Vargas pin-up girl on their second album’s dust jacket. ;-)

The Cars aren't “oldies”...why, I remember buying their albums when I was in high school!

One of the few bands that everyone seemed to dig, from soccer moms to coke dealers. The Cars are great. If only all the crap bands from the 80’s had as much edge as the Cars.

“Let the Good Times Roll” has one of the best guitar lines ever, and Ocasek’s freaky voice goes perfectly with it. I will miss Orr on the new album, since he was the voice they needed for more serious songs, like the classic Drive.

RIP Benjamin Orr. Th3e band was one of the best. Since it seems they are reunited, I’ll have to check out the latest album.

I like The Cars, but my view is that their success was the beginning of the end for rock ‘n roll. After The Cars, producers kept looking for different new styles.

Great news!
I still have my Cars albums and occasionally hook up the turntable and listen the old fashioned way, snaps, pops and all. I’ll have to check Amazon tonight for the new album.
Ping to myself.

Wow. Reading “oldies” and “The Cars” in the same sentence really makes me feel ... old.

The Cars? Oldies?
Crap. I’m old.
Does this stuff sound to my kid the way Buddy Holly did to me when I was his age?

Cars' lead guitarist Elliot Easton posts frequently over at the
Les Paul Forum where he's just a regular dude who loves Gibson guitars and happened to have enjoyed some success in the music business a long time ago.

Their best song is “Moving in Stereo”, the fact that it also was the song that played when Phoebe Cates showed her tatas in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” didn’t hurt.
