A New Battle In Obama’s Class War, Today’s Press Conference

Today the heat in the ongoing class warfare has gotten turned up a bit during the late morning press conference of President Barack Obama.

From start to finish of the press conference, President Obama goes full blast into pitting one group against another, rich versus poor, those who support both those who are on social security versus successful businesses, and us versus them. Since President Obama cannot seek a second Presidential term based on his first term’s record, he does the next best thing, play up one group against another. In other words, President Obama is painting a picture of Republicans as for the rich and the powerful while making Democrats to be for the children and the poor.

Also to jab at the Republicans, President Obama also brings up both the war in Afghanistan, the taking down of Osama Bin Laden, and the crisis in Greece by adding this:”I’ve been doing Afghanistan, bin Laden and the Greek crisis,” Obama said, jabbing Congress for being out of session so much. “You stay here. Let’s get it done.”

IMHO, today’s presser by President Obama serves as a very clear reminder that when all else fails in regards to your Presidential record, play the “class warfare card” to score brownie points to get the Republicans to cave-in under the pressure so as not to have the needed cuts made as well as to raise the debt ceiling.

Also just listening to the presser, President Obama seems to make as a whipping post those persons and companies who own corporate jets:”If we do not have revenues, that means there are a bunch of kids out there who do not have college scholarships,” Obama said. “[It] might compromise the National Weather Services. It means we might not be funding critical medical research. It means food inspection might be compromised. I’ve said to Republican leaders, ‘You go talk to your constituents and ask them, “Are you willing to compromise your kids’ safety so some corporate-jet owner can get a tax break?”

Once again, when all else, including the failures of his own Presidential record, go after those who produce not only wealth but also jobs in the private sector.

Right now, the USA going into another July 4th holiday weekend is dealing with a very sluggish economy and very big concerns about its future. A Presidential press conference which plays on class warfare in the end helps no one or resolves the struggling economy.

Tax Breaks for Corporate Jets was part of the 2009 Stimulus Package that he signed into law. He said it was needed to jump start the industry.

Yet the President bashes the same group he gave a stimulus to. What is wrong with this picture?

Fubo, any idea how many people work in private aviation? Pilots, sales people, ramp personel, fuel drivers, flight attendents, limo drivers, caterers and many more, I suppose he would rather they were unemployed as well

An old thread with a 1939 conservative booklet (”The Revolution Was”) about FDR and the New Deal. It’s all happening again, almost down to the same wording that Obama uses. It is a long booklet, but here is an excerpt as pertains to “obscene profits”.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2185147/posts

In his first inaugural address, March 4, 1933, the President said: “... Yet our distress comes from no failure of substance.... Plenty is at our doorstep, but a generous use of it languishes in the very sight of the supply.... Practices of the unscrupulous money-changers stand indicted in the court of public opinion, rejected by the hearts and minds of men.... They know only the rules of a generation of self-seekers.... Yes, the money-changers have fled from their high seats in the temple of our civilization. We may now restore that temple to the ancient truths. The measure of that restoration lies in the extent to which we apply social values more noble than mere monetary profit.”

There was the pattern and it never changed. The one enemy, blameable for all human distress, for unemployment, for low wages, for the depression of agriculture, .... for want in the midst of potential plenty — who was he? The money-changer in the temple. This was a Biblical symbol and one of the most hateful...

Large profit as such becomes therefore a symbol of social injury, merely because it is large; moreover, it is asserted that large profit had long been so regarded by the government and penalized for that reason.

Of all the counter symbols this was the one most damaging to the capitalistic system. Indeed, if it were accepted, it would be fatal, because capitalism is a profit and loss system and if profits, even very large profits, are socially wrong, there is nothing more to be said for it. But it was a false symbol, and false for these three reasons, namely: first, there is no measure of large profit; second, large profits are of many kinds and to say simply that large profits are “of course made at the expense of the neighbors” is either nonsense or propaganda, as you like; and; in the third place, the history is wrong....

So, what the New Deal really intended to do, what it meant to do within the Constitution if possible, with the collaboration of Congress if Congress did not fail, but with war powers if necessary, was to REORGANIZE AND CONTROL THE WHOLE ECONOMIC AND THEREFORE THE WHOLE SOCIAL NETWORK OF THE COUNTRY.

And therein lay the meaning — the only consistent meaning — of a series of acts touching money, banking and credit which, debated as monetary policy, made no sense whatever.

Soak the rich...bleed them white and then tell all the people who make, sell and service luxury cars, make, sell, lease, fly or service corporate jets and the staff at high end restaurants why they lost their jobs. This class warfare is BS and the same old play Obama always makes. However this could backfire as many of those evil rich who make over $200,000 could easily include well paid union workers in two income families as well as small business owners who file their business taxes on their personal return. Obama wants socialism where all animals are equal, but some more than others.

I don't know - I think it's a lot like the ATM machines. Just think how many people would have jobs if the executives used the bus or drove instead. Road maintenance, hotels, restaurants, gas stations, etc. A lot more money is going to be distributed throughout the country when the head of Walmart has to spend 3 days driving from Arkansas to his meeting in Seattle than if he flew.

I understand Pelosi now uses Greyhound and Amtrack exclusively.

“[It] might compromise the National Weather Services.”

This old saw again. As though every city doesn’t have at least one or two TV stations and even more radio stations that would broadcast weather information from The Weather Channel and private weather services. We do not need taxpayer funded government bureaucrats to tell us what they guess the weather will be. They rarely get it right anyway.

President Obama goes full blast into pitting one group against another

Special interest group and pressure group warfare is part of the nature of mixed economy. And some presidents such as Johnson and Hussein enjoy the power of being able to hand out benefits to the groups they favor.

Obama has only three cards in his deck:
1) Race Card (over used)
2) Bush card (No longer of much value but still used)
3) The Class Warfare card.

Its all he’s got to use in his bid to win the White House.
He has lost the Anti-War card, the ecology card, the Hope
and change card.

We need to go back to 2009 spending levels. Everyone received Social Security, Military pay, funding for the National Weather Service etc then, so what’s Obama’s problem? No payola for ACORN or the Union thugs.

It’s staggering how well those three cards work.

Even after 2 1/2 years of this. :(:(:(:(
