I believe that there are some topics she should address and some topics she shouldn’t.
If the media start asking her questions about politics and candidates, she needs to tell them those are not two areas that she is prepared to comment on. “If you would like to talk about my book, or the charities, unrelated to politics or candidates, I’ll be happy to talk about it.”
She set herself up for this by making comments in the book. Her mother should have made sure those comments didn’t make it into the book. Does she really want Bristol being mired in political commentary? Really?

She did fine, and she is perfectly justified to speak on the campaign, her book is the same, it is her story and the bits that mention 2008, are a part of that, she was there and has her own experiences.
We haven’t read the book, but I am guessing that it will be a positive for conservatives and our causes that she is an activist for.
I haven’t seen her mired in any political commentary.
