We've never found her leading one of our state polls until now but Michele Bachmann's been on fire for the last two weeks and we find her at the top of the GOP field in both Oregon and Montana when Sarah Palin's not included. That's just more indication that if Palin ends up not running Bachmann will pretty instantaneously vault to co-front runner status with Mitt Romney, provided she can continue her current momentum.
In Oregon Bachmann gets 29% to 28% for Romney, 10% for Ron Paul, 9% for Newt Gingrich, 7% for Herman Cain, 6% for Tim Pawlenty, and 2% for Jon Huntsman. In Montana she leads with 25% to 22% for Romney, 11% for Gingrich, 10% for Paul, 9% for Pawlenty,8% for Cain, and 4% for Huntsman.
In both states Bachmann's support is built on strong support from the far right. In Oregon moderates prefer Romney over her by a 39-15 margin and 'somewhat conservatives' ones favor him by a 29-22 margin as well. But with 'very conservative' voters, which constitute the largest share of the primary electorate at 44%, Bachmann leads 37-26 and that fuels her small overall lead. It's a similar story in Montana. Romney leads 21-13 with moderates and 26-22 with 'somewhat conservative' voters. But Bachmann is up 34-19 with 'very conservative' voters and with their constituting 39% of Republican voters that gives her the upper hand overall.

it’s what 7 months to the first primary?
lol
So, all:
Could Bachmann actually win the general election?
(She is right about one thing: Obama MUST go...that is truly the single most important issue in this election!!!)
I feel certain Perry could beat him. I’m less certain about all of the other candidates.
Would like to hear the collective wisdom here.
I just hope she can gain some name recognition to move Mitt out out the way. The reason I’m saying this is, us political news junkies know very well who she is, but I was with the in-laws when she announced, and they along with my wife (all solid Republican voters), said in unison, Who is she?. I said you got to be kidding me, you never heard of her? They hadn’t.
I fear there are more Republican voters like them than like us. Which is why RINOs like Romney keep polling high.
When is Gov. Landon getting into the race? I hear he’s got a lock on the nomination if he runs.
Well, we have to admit that the gaffes don’t help Bachmann any. The John Wayne Gacy thing, while out of proportion, was a genuinely stupid mistake that two minutes on Wikipedia could have prevented.
Dirty trick by Ed Rollins, acting as a mole in the campaign?
(dons flame-retardant suit)
....”When Sarah Palin is not included”?
All of the Republicans candidates win the 2012 election when Obama is not included says the poll
You can win the Chess game when your opponent is not included says the poll
You can be very rich if no one but you is included in the bank
Okay, Perry/Bachmann could work, too.
I think Michelle can beat Oboma badly if the economy is still in the dumper come Nov 2012. She doesn’t seem afraid to take him on.
Romney will be toast, now that he avoided Iowa. Romney will become Giuliani all over again; Big name recognition, flashy presence, with zero appeal in key states.
She talks a good game, but has no executive experience, no legislative accomplishments, no actual life accomplishments that are extraordinary, heck, she can't even get a decent committee assignment as a congresscritter. In spite of these small problems (/s) there are people here claiming she can be our candidate against the billion dollar Obama campaign.....
Get serious people, she's a disaster in the making.
The exact same qualifications Obammy brought to the political table in 2008.
My thoughts, Jim DeMint may fill the VP slot.
I believe (like Rush) that ANY Republican running against Obama will win if the economy stays as bad as it is or gets even worse. The liberal press are trying to get us to pick a RINO like Romney or Hoffman so Obama has a better chance to win. If we have a liberal Republican running against a liberal Democrat, most Americans will most likely choose the real thing (the Dem).
One of the worst things that could happen to our party would be sending a liberal/moderate Republican to the White House. There would then be a lot of pressure from the party to support OUR president....even when he's wrong. A good example was when George Bush advocated the federal drug plan for seniors that the country could not afford. The Republicans who voted against him were penalized, and the Democrats slapped the "Big Spending Republican" tag on both Bush and the rest of us.
Yes, but Obammy got a free pass from the press. Bachmann won’t.
