The bully picking a fight with the wrong man is probably one of the most repeated scenarios in storytelling from Jack the Giant Killer through David and Goliath into modern day film and TV but it never fails to give us that oh so satisfying tingle down the back of the neck.

Notes on technique. While there were some constraints on the action, somebody consulted who knew Jujutsu, likely learned in postwar Japan.
The first chop across the throat was to hurt the trachea. Note how the bully was gasping for air. The rest of the blows were “stage”, except for the knee in the face. But, when he reenters the “judo flip” was classic Jujutsu, even though it went off course a bit.
Yes, it was Borgnine. He also played Fatso in From Here to Eternity. Played a lot of bad guys back then.
