New York Times Finally Addresses Gun Walker and Fast and Furious: and Blames American Gun Owners!
Coach is Right ^ | 6/24/2011 | Doug Book

Like most of the American media, Pinch Sulzberger’s New York Times has ignored the ATF’s Fast and Furious and Gunrunner scandals for months.

The fact that one or more Obama Regime members at the Justice Department encouraged other Obama Regime members at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to sell thousands of weapons to illegal straw purchasers for Mexican drug cartels and then assist in transporting the guns across the border…well these just aren’t the sort of stories that grace the Times’ front page.

After all, Pinch’s pride and joy isn’t known for reporting that its favorite political party is responsible for the deaths of countless Mexicans and at least two American federal employees.

Sure, back in February the Times wrote, “..the Obama administration must awake to the urgent need to combat the illegal trafficking of assault weapons across the border.”

But then, the “Paper of Record” probably didn’t know it was the Obama administration ITSELF that was doing the trafficking!

But Pinch has finally broken silence on the scandals, mainly because congressional committees of Senator Charles Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa have used testimony from ATF whistle blowers to publicly barbecue some of his favorite Obama apparatchiks. And that means the Times must ride to the rescue to straighten out the reading public.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

FU NYT !

NYT, making the news to promote the views of the State. They are America’s version of the Soviet Union’s Pravda and Tass News Agency.

The Slimes once again asking for an Obama administration government bailout as the end approaches.

They genuflect into the cesspool of blatant lies to prove their worth in propaganda to Obama.

Mark my word. Knowing they only have until Jan 13 they’re going ALL IN now! That includes the press. They don’t even pretend anymore. They print whatever is favorable to the government.

This country won’t survive until Jan 2013. Radical changes will have to take place to stop this downhill slide to obama’s america.

I don’t have much hope that it’s not too late. I believe the “first shots fired” will have to be states secceeding. Anything short of that will simply not succeed. Marchers with signs will only be laughed at.

So with its usual attention to fact and detail, the Times has reported that the DELIBERATE Regime initiated sale of more than 2000 weapons to known straw purchasers is actually the result of gun ownership being “…such an ingrained part of the culture in Arizona…that it is difficult to tell straw purchasers from legal ones without conducting surveillance to determine how the guns [are] being used.”

Where to start, where to start...

First of all, the government has no prima facie right to "know how guns are being used" any more than they have a similar right to know how toothbrushes are being used without their prior consent.

Secondly, how is "it's hard to tell when sales are legitimate or straw purchases" justify failing to interdict those transactions you KNOW are straw purchases?? That fact, even if it were true, is completely unrelated to what they're accused of having done. The Old Gray Whore is SO desperate to defend the actions of statists, especially her chosen and approved statist, that they're resort to complete irrationality, delivered in completely grammatical sentences, to produce the impression of a defense. In a sense, that's as strong an indictment as any. If the people defending you are forced to stoop to irrational irrelevant arguments, there must in actual fact, be no excuse for your actions.

The NYT "knew" what was going on. They were part of it. Some of their reporters, editors, supervisors and managers, if not owners, are going to ride the gurney for First Degree Murder over this.

The Mexicans have another 150 murders to look into ~ and although they don't formally have a death penalty, they do have some really nasty prisons AND just like here I've heard murder charges have no statute of limitations problem.

We can wait until we have a Republican President to send these guys to Mexico for trial.

Expecting honesty from the editors of the New York Times is like expecting chastity from the girls of the Mustang Ranch or tenderness from the starting line of the Boston Bruins.

The NYT is trying to justify the actions because “they knew” and many of their people could be charged with complicity in murder. They are attempting to pollute the jury pools.

And sadly, they might succeed. A big enough proportion of people think they’re on a jury to assist the state, and a big proportion of the rest believe what they read in the papers and see on TV. Fewer and fewer all the time, though.

You are 100% right.

Nice tagline. I wish they still actually had TWO opposing parties in DC. One of them actually stood for the civl rights of people, back in the 60s.
