The LA Times is reporting this incredible story in this mornings edition. His resignation was rumored a week ago, last Friday and expected to take place Monday, then Tuesday then in the immediate future. The delay seemed to some to indicate his handlers at Justice might be having trouble convincing him he should fall on his sword to protect Attorney General Holder. Rep. Issa has publicly stated Justice had to know about the Fast and Furious program, since they had to approve the funding for it. .
Here is some of what the LA Times is reporting.
"The acting director of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is strongly resisting pressure to step down because of growing controversy over the agency's surveillance program that allowed U.S. guns to flow unchecked into Mexico, according to several federal sources in Washington."
The story continues with this quote from one of the Times sources:
"He is saying he won't go," said one source close to the situation, who asked for anonymity because high-level discussions with Melson remained fluid. "He has told them, 'I'm not going to be the fall guy on this.' "

DROP THE BOMB THEN b****!
I’m hoping this guy rats out Holder and Obama, causing a huge scandal that lasts until the next election.
Was CBS and she/they led with several expose stories on the fiasco when the other LSM Obamabots wouldn’t touch it.
Thanks for that.
I figure he is going to lie.
bttt
he seems like a professional, perhaps even an honest guy. If he was a political appointee of Obama he would not roll over. Why is he acting? Because no appointee could get through the Senate? Because they wanted someone outside the agency to get this done without their guy being exposed to jail?
I hope he doesn’t lie. It is a monumentally bad and illegal idea, and who ever ordered them to do it should be identified and not allowed to ‘work in this business again’.
100% agree. I hope Issa gets to the bottom of this and whoever is responsible goes to jail.
Doesn’t he need the DOJ’s permission to testify?
I hope not because that won’t be forthcoming.
I hope he lives long enough to testify.
Whistleblowers who do so against Dem politicians tend to have fatal “accidents”.
“Where have we heard this before? Didn’t Ron Brown make a similar statement not long before his untimely death?”
I wouldn’t want to be taking any flights. Or drive my car. Or even walk outside my house.
The evil is piling up, but, I fear not enough warm bodies who still believe in the rule of law to prosecute the evil.
The latest I heard the DoS is also implicated. Think about it; Hitlery was one of the biggest voices out there to trumpet the bogus 90% story. Now nobody will touch it.
I think Issa has somebody from DoS on his whistleblower list as well and he is just setting up the ducks in a nice little row before he starts shooting. People are running for the hills right now and this one is going to take in some very big fish.
I am a business colleague of Ken. While I do not know his political leanings, he is a very ethical, and honorable man. Knowing Ken as I do this should get interesting. It should be noted that he was president of the American Academy of Forensic Scientists. He was elected by his peers for his service. He was instrumental in writing and reviewing the ethical documents which control the forensic science community. This should get very interesting indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“While I do not know his political leanings, he is a very ethical, and honorable man.”
Well if he’s “ethical, and honorable” then he isn’t a Democrat. ;)
No wonder the government wants to control the internet, damn bloggers. Even FR treats them like second class citizens. MSM are the worst bloggers of all.
Make sure you can verify what he says...
The check must have bounced, or Melson checked the golden parachute they offered him and decided it wouldn’t open.
Memo to Darryl Issa: Get that guy on the stand.
