The first thing I ever wrote about Sarah Palin dealt with the immediate reaction by some in the MSM to her unpolished way of speaking.
I argued, successfully I might add, that in the end people would come to realize that a Palin-type (read: citizen politician), will sound more like your neighbor than an elitist clone from a Sunday morning news program, and thats a good thing.
This is not counter-intuitive, it is pure logic, and the Tea Party has finally figured it out.
The established order does not produce idealists, it destroys them, keeping only those who are willing and able to defend the indefensible at every turn with a polished turn-of-phrase. The default position of the Statist is a philosophical resignation to the inevitability of a return to the status quo.

I love Sarah’s message, not her delivery. She needs to see Professor Henry Higgins.
I believe it’s
‘Enry ‘Iggins.
I'll vote for her but the voice and accent is the female version of Jesse Ventura.

Interesting that you mention that comparison. My barber said that she sounds like a female wrestler who just won the world title.
LOL
I love the “concern” trolls on her voice.
Nobody had a problem with Carter’s Georgia accent. Johnson butchered the language. Bush I had a snooty patrictian blue blood accent, Clinton the redneck, Bush II sounded brain damaged and we all were shouting at the TV knowing what he was TRYING to say, Kerry with the haughty Boston blue blood, Algore with his faux evangelist schtick, and then Obama. Obama is a case study all his own. He has a “perfect arabic accent”, he has a ghetto accent, he has a Harvard elitist accent, he has a Black gospel preacher accent,,, and last but not least,,, an odd affected Red Foxx style accent. thats the one where he does the drunken old black wino-philosopher accent. “na na na na,,,na na na,, now listen,,,,” (it comes out when challenged in a public forum)
We tolerate all that,, but Sarah’s voice is a problem. Please,,,,
Her pitch and screeching can cause permanent deafness.
Apparently she's figured this out since it's improving of late.
BTW, I'm a staunch Palin supporter.

First, I agree, her voice is way too screechy to listen to in comfort. Worse yet, women seem to hate her voice, period. They seem to prefer that women in power speak more slowly, and in lower tones.
That said, and I’m speculating here, I think she’s aware of this problem (and it is a problem) and is working on it. Her long interview with ?? (now I forget who...maybe Hannity) about three weeks ago was much improved in the voice department. That wouldn’t happen unless she was making an effort to change, and probably getting some serious coaching besides.
She probably needs to modulate her own voice when speaking to a crowd, and up the amplifiers to compensate. If she does manage to improve her speaking voice, it will help a lot with how people on the fence perceive her.
Incidentally, the first time I ever hear Obama’s voice on the radio (in 2004 I think) I remember thinking, “Oh, oh...this guy’s trouble,” because his speaking voice was so good. It does make a difference, regardless what people say.
I hate to tell you but Palin’s high pitched unmodulated voice gets in the way of her message. She has had two and a half years to get with a speech coach to bring her pitch down so it doesn’t sound like fingernails on a chalkboard. If you are going to be a public speaker you have to be able to speak properly not in some herky jerky fashion that turns off the audience. Its a problem and she needs to work on it.
