Pushing a wet noodle uphill is hardly a way to conduct an investigation.

This whole Gunrunner idea presumes that "they" already know who the "kingpins" are, so to bust them all they need to do is place a traceable weapon in their hands.

Hmmm?

So why not just bust them?

I find it difficult to believe that all the people in the chain of command that organized and finance this operation are terminally stupid ~ therefore I must accept the idea that SOMEBODY with some serious influence intended to place thousands of military grade weapons in the hands of selected "kingpins".

Sounds just like Obama's belief that it's this government's job to select winners ~ like GM!

Which means this particular permutation of Gunrunner is peculiar to the Obama regime.

I keep thinking that at some point, the media will pick up on this and expose this story.

Actually, in a normal world, this should lead to something like Reagan's March 4, 1987 address and apology over the Iran-Contra thing. If this was a Republican administration, there would be calls for impeachment of officials, and perhaps even the President himself over this. But since its being run by Demorats, the media will be silent.

I'm not sure what can be done in a free nation when the Media becomes an enemy of the people.

we have 1400 unaccounted for military grade weapons

Firearms purchased at gun shops in Texas aren't "military grade"

"... the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing ..."

If it were only incompetence which explains this horror, it would be bad enough. Unfortunately, the real explanation is undoubtedly that the Obama administration was attempting to create the "river of iron", legally purchased weapons smuggled to Mexico, in order to use the carnage in Mexico to justify infringing the right to keep and bear arms of U.S. citizens.

The cooperative liberal media chanted the theme loudly and clearly for the last many months and the BATFE took steps to bring the propaganda into "reality"; that is, the liberal reality where the end justifies the means, yet the intention always outweighs an evil result.

I challenge anybody to provide evidence contrary to my claim.

This was all designed to create an exploitable crisis which could be used to push more gun control on Americans. It never had much to do with actually solving any problems.

The "advance gun control" makes sense only if you believe the current regime can keep two or three things in mind simultaneously.

I think that given the criminal records and relationships that came to town with this regime and its friends from the fringe it makes more sense to attribute the whole thing to an ambition to send favored drug cartels more weapons and lots of ammunition.

That's what they'd done in Chicago ~ pick a street gang and reward it for killing its enemies while leaving the cops alone.

Regarding "gun control", this whole thing came about mostly after it was clear Republicans were going to win the 2010 elections and take over the House and numerous state legislatures.

It was really unlikely any gun control of any kind could get passed in that environment irrespective of "events" in Mexico.

This regime rewards friends and stiffs its enemies. They don't think anything more complex than that.

I'm not wrong on this. Creating an exploitable crisis was the goal.

I've been an RKBA activist for over 50 years, this is typical anti gun tactics on a large scale. Smaller schemes are more common, maybe having Obama in charge gave them the courage to try something on a large scale.

I hadn't made that connection. Certainly Obama's Chicago background would include some sensitivity to the needs of major illegal drug importers.

But when you have at your disposal the BATFE, you don't need to recruit other anti-gun zealots to your cause. These are the people who would claim that airsoft rifles can be converted into machine guns. Their plans don't have to be factual or logical, they just need to be supported by the administration and the media.

They only have to convince the "fire can't melt steel" crowd.

Fortunately the "steel doesn't burn" crowd are in a distinct minority after the 2010 elections.

That always happens when the public returns to its senses and votes in the Republicans.

The fact the Democrats continued on with their stupidity reveals that the true motive was far simpler ~ it was an "opportunity" to use the government itself to transport firearms to their friends in Mexico.

These people are STUPID.

I think it's safe to say that something that had it's toes in the Bush administration probably had a totally different motive at the time.

Now the motive was simply to get the government to send guns to Mexico to favored individuals.

Think like a criminal for a moment. As soon as you start doing that you see what a clear bright line there was for this whole program once the Obamistas took over the reins of government.

BATF has always had an anti gun agenda.

"W" never was as pro 2nd amendment as some folks want to believe. His father is totally wishy washy on the issue and Jeb isn't really committed in favor of RKBA. They will go with the flow.

I will still maintain that Gunwalker was concieved as a political tool, an exploitable crisis. If we hadn't taken control of the Houae they would have pulled it off.
