preparing for the “impending crisis” strikes me as a waste of resources.

Then SOD OFF, WANKER. My resources are not yours to distribute.

In a Free Republic, I chose what I want to spend my gold and blood on.

>>Your “anger” schtick is getting old, freedumb2003. <<

Yet you are the one angrily posting.

>>You’ve demonstrated throughout this thread that you don’t understand people like me. I live in a county with over 300,000 people. That’s pretty urban to most of the country. I’m just out in the far reaches, more horsey than agricultural these days. But, that’s neither here nor there.<<

300,000 people is a tiny town in most of the US. It just means we have a different perspective of what “big” is. But the difference is most Americans live in big cities (or thereabouts).

>>Who’s angry and who’s not is evident. Whose mind is open and whose is not is evident as well. I live where I live and enjoy it. <<

I made no suggestions as to “open mind” or not. I also have already noted that your desire to live out in the rural areas seems to suit you quite well. I made no judgement on your decision.

>>You’ve apparently lived a bedouin life from city to city. Here’s to hoping that you find whatever it is that you’re chasing after. Maybe you’ll finally be happy and at peace, and the constant little digs directed at anyone with the temerity to live differently from you or to see things differently from you will disappear from your communications.<<

I chase nothing. I go where I am assigned. I am a computer consultant and travel is part of the deal (getting near 3 million miles this year). On the one hand it can be a bit grueling. OTOH, I get to experience a LOT of the USA -— places people who settle in don’t ever get to see nor experience.

I have made no “digs” (slight or otherwise). I have made fact-based comments on the fact that most of the USA is city/suburb based. Why this upsets so many here is a bit of a puzzlement to me.

But in the impending “collapse” you had better take this fact into consideration when making your plans.

And yes, a 300,000 town is a tiny berg. You would sneeze and it would be in the rear view mirror.

10M in Chicago die.

There are roughly 3.5 million in Chicago proper, toss in another million in the Cook County suburbs. If you add in the population of the collar counties you get roughly 9 million.

And trust me my friend, there is a goodly number of us who once the crap hits the fan are going to make sure that those folks who are from Cook County, stay in Cook County.

Best,

L

No anger there.

Everyone owns their own resources. I also am in a Free Republic and can make recommendations to the reading public on my analysis of the OP.

And I again remind you I have taken no personal swipes at anyone on this thread. Sadly, the late hour seems to have set off the “peeved” button on some.

I was using the metro areas for all the big cities — my quick Google-Fu said 9.8 million so I rounded up.

As far as the rest, my underlying point is they aren’t going to go away, even if you can turn them back. It really was an Reductio ad absurdum argument to show that the basis of the OP makes no sense in pretty much any context.

good first line of defense against those "biker gangs".

My .22 LRHP works just fine on urban trash, and is much easier to keep quiet.

And if I died today, 1000 years from now, they would still be finding .22 carts and hulls all over this and adjacent properties. ;)

300,000 people is a tiny town in most of the US.

Only in the northeastern urban corridor from DC to Boston, Chicago and immediate 'burbs, the LA Basin, Houston and Dallas/Ft. Worth, possibly south Florida. Everywhere else, it's a heavily populated county. Even the Bay Area. Been there many times, love the place, gorgeous. The people, not so much. You've amply demonstrated why.

OK, I gotta know. Under your scenario, HOW? Let’s go ahead and start off by saying they won’t be eaten. What kills them? Who orders the executions? barry the zero? He has his black panthers march on New York and just kill every one? And THEN he says “but don’t march on the farms?”

Oh, and based on recently acquired more accurate information, only 9 million need to be wiped out in the Chicago area. I am sure that will make the people eaters a little less full...

My dad grew up in Nebraska. He told me about his family’s root cellar and storing potatoes in sand—he ate mostly potatoes as a kid during the depression—hunted for rabbits in woods, etc. Not easy childhood, but they survived by canning tomatoes, fruit, veggies like beans, etc and stored potatoes—they lived in small town—not on a farm and struggled. So could survive if person knows how to put up food. That is key.

No anger here either. But when someone tells me that I'm wasting resources, and can't cook breakfast for himself, or begin to grow it... I'm appropriate in using the British euphenisms.

You don't decide what is wasted.

Unless you are wasting it.

We all want to think we would be able to overcome odds against us. I certainly love the image of me with a gunbelt and a huge weapon, knocking them all to hell.

But against 3,000? 4,000? 25,000?

In the post-collapse world, it will be the new organizations that will be the ones that create the new reality.

Can you explain other than an wanting to irritate people why you would spend the evening posting on a subject you don't believe in nor support?

What would drive such a need to be at the center of a discussion that not only you don't believe in but can clearly add nothing positive to?

Ok you don't believe in prepping we all got that 20-25 post ago. You told us you don't believe, you told us why, you told us how foolish/wrong/misguided we are again 20-25 post ago so what is this need of yours to keep it up.

Many people here are interested in skills, thoughts and ideas that will help them and their families through a tough time. That was the idea of the post a open and positive discussion on those who wish to improve their knowledge and skills.

You remind me of the kid that would set in the back of the class they had no interest in the class, they care not one wit if they pasted the class or not and they thought anyone that was interested in the class were fools, so what did they do, they interrupted and disturbed the class to a point in which it made it near impossible for anyone interested to learn. You complain about anger yet can you point out one postive post, one which gave anyone interested in the subject being discuss any knowledge or thought on prepping?

You have no idea what I can or cannot do. I had a garden when I was young and did cook with my own ingredients, picked from there, and eggs from chickens I raised. But of course we have no way of verifying all your claims, do we? For all we know you are a SUNY student posting from your dorm room in Manhattan and have never seen a live animal other than a mouse, rat, cat or dog in your life. So, let’s not go there, really.

As far as British euphemisms, all capitals means yelling in Internet parlance, and those words are insults in said parlance (WANKER means one who masturbates). It means anger. And it is meant to insult. And you really can’t take it back. And I note — AGAIN — I have not made any insults to anyone on this thread.

>>You don’t decide what is wasted.
Unless you are wasting it.<<

Waste whatever you want. I don’t “decide” anything. I suggest it is is a waste and people decide to waste or not according to their own risk profile. My pointing it out seems to create great angst here.

Stalin provides a lesson in the Ukraine. He killed millions with government by incompentence. It happened. Joseph died before I was born, but it happened. Even communists agree the JStalin killed a lot of people.

Pol Pot used a ruse of air raids to clear the city to the country. And those folks weren't decimated (one out of 10 killed), they were all wiped out.

Dee Eee Dee. Dead. Kilt.

All within living memory.

If you can point me to a post where I have suggested those skills would not be useful, I will withdraw with my abject apologies.

I have a different point, which I have been quite explicit about. The fact it does not match your desired point does not invalidate it.

And I still detect anger.

Yes you repeatedly said gardening was useless, in fact you said repeatedly sait that planing for an economic collapse was useless.

You also keep bringing up ‘Mad Max’ serniro, but if you had read actually read my post number for I suggested that we are looking at a ‘Argentia Style’ economic collapse, abet more violent than theirs but more or less the same and yet you have repeatedly charged that I am a avocate of a ‘Mad Max’ senerio and that is not true. You are the one who started the ‘Mad Max’ senerio not me or any other prepper.

it will be the new organizations that will be the ones that create the new reality.

A propoganda minister couldn't say it better.

I've done war. I've studied war.

I want to die in my bed, an old man, never having to study war or maps again.

And never, ever, ever to fill out a travel voucher.

So, KMA, Free to be dumb.

We're not on the same page, we never will be.

Adios, sayonara, and goodby.

Do not let your shadow cross mine in the early morning hours.

I dust my feet at your doorstep.
