I was a sports photographer for my university newspaper and developed my own B/W film in the darkroom. It was in 1969, coincidentally the same year that I estimate the pictures of Mark and David were taken.

If a picture was overexposed and/or overdeveloped it looked too dark in the newspaper and lost detail, as with the “dark boy” photo compared to the properly exposed more recently discovered picture put up by Mark of him and his younger brother David.

You don't know what you're talking about. The two photos were taken by a professional photographer, not by some rinky dink school photographer, and were developed at the same time. Professionals don't make amateur mistakes like you admit doing. The difference in quality has nothing to do with the original photographs.

The older boy is darker in both photographs, as well as all the others in which they have appeared together.

I never disputed that.

My point is that in the family shot (approx. 1969) the picture is overexposed and the darker older boy, who is Mark IMO, is much darker in that picture than he is in “real life” compared to his much lighter brother, David. The proof of this is the “cocked head” studio picture where Mark is not nearly as dark as in the other picture taken in the same sitting or in the family picture.

Regardless of the identies, the first "David and Mark" picture is cute. The second is so freaky that, imo, no one would voluntarily post it on the internet. IF it is legit (cough), I can't imagine why Mark would want to swap out the first picture. Where's the reasoning? It's senseless.

I wonder who that really was. Definitely not Barry/Zero. Eyebrows look Mark-ish. So does smile.
