We should not abandon social issues. We need all three legs of conservatism to win. No more RINOs/moderates.
Great, another RINo/concern troll.
I admire Cain’s feelings on this subject, but he should keep them private.
This is not an issue of great importance to most people and many feel that any laws made regarding this are just more government interference.
I like that Cain is willing to take risky stands if they are worthwhile, but this is a mistake.
He already annoyed me by taking digs at former Prez Bush. Don’t care what he thinks about Bush or Bush’s mistakes but (like this issue) he should keep it to himself. We already have people criticizing Bush ... they’re called dems.
“The truth of the matter is that most of the voting public dont care if an individual engages in homosexual activity.”
Your post and statement above is utter bovine excrement. You must hang around liberla college kids to believe that. Make one wonder why in the hell you are even on this website.
Problem is, queers don’t keep their behavior private. We need to stand up and fight this. Without fixing the culture, the economy will not matter.
I’ve noticed that some of my fellow FReepers think speaking on this subject is a trap for politicians. I would like to remind them that California, yes CALIFORNIA, pased with a clear majority a ban on homosexual marriage. A Republican should not be afraid to discuss a conservative principle that over half of the voters of California are in agreement with.
I think a great argument that homosexuality is a choice was explained by Mark Charalambous (MC Hammer). How come many married incarcerated people turn to homosexual behavior. Are they all closeted gays or are they feeding their sexual appetite?
No, actually I'm probably more conservative than you are but I'm also probably a lot smarter than you are. Just because one hates RINO's (I do as well, with a passion) doesn't mean one can throw pragmatism to the wind. Rule number one, get conservatives elected. Rule number two... see rule number one.
There goes the Log Cabin Pubbie vote — but he’s got mine!
This also puts Herman at odds with his bud, Neal Boortz, who believes it’s genetic.
More and more, Herman’s his own man.
Finally someone just tells it like it is.
I like Cain (but I like Palin best) but on Wolf Blitzer interview, he did state that it was okay for states and cities to regulate guns at ~3:30 point of the video. Earlier in the video he did state strong support of 2nd, but then waffled. If states and cities can perform like NJ, IL, CA, and NY then that effectively eliminates the 2nd. Newtitis is a fatal disease; he’s got to be careful about catching it. See video.
Great another "I'd rather have my candidate lose votes to prove he's my guy and then not be able to enact any changes because he lost the election troll!!!"
When the heck are some of you guys going to realize what the left already knows... they can be hardcore left and yet still play to the middle to get elected. Turnabout is fair play, be a strong conservative and play to the middle... There is a HUGE difference between being a RINO and knowing when to avoid alienating a swath of the voters in the middle. You can still maintain your principles and enact meaningful change once you are in office. Heck, I'd love to see Herman Cain get elected.
It IS a choice.
Being honest about his Christian beliefs, and not being politically correct for the sake of winning.
Rush made this observation early last decade that this would have the Gay lobby in conflict with the Pro-Choice lobby when, upon discovery of the "Gay Gene" in pre-natal testing, abortion of the fetus would follow.
No one said ANYTHING about abandoning social issues... but if you think that equating homosexuality with sin helps get someone elected, you are sadly mistaken my friend. Now, is homosexuality a sin? Yep, it is... Can Herman Cain get elected to a national office if he is percieved to be someone who will legislate from the bible... nope he can’t... Common sense dictates we practice a little pragmatism here. I am 100% in agreement with you about no more RINOs/moderates... but DON’T throw out the baby with the bathwater, we need to elect conservatives. Those conservative need to understand the electorate as a whole and not fall into the “traps” set up by the punk journalists at CBS.
Well said and I agree. I would not be surprised if Cain goes down in the polls.
