Herman Cain To CBS News: Homosexuality Is ‘A Sin’ And ‘A Choice’
Mediaite ^ | 6/9/11 | Mark Joyella

Posted on 06/09/2011 6:55:44 AM PDT by markomalley

In an interview Wednesday with CBS News, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain described homosexuality as “a sin” and “a choice.” Appearing on the CBS News web program Washington Unplugged, Cain told CBSNews.com senior political reporter Brian Montopoli “I believe homosexuality is a sin because I’m a Bible-believing Christian, I believe it’s a sin,” he said. “But I know that some people make that choice. That’s their choice.”

Montopoli followed up, asking Cain if he thought gays and lesbians were making “a choice” to be homosexual:

Cain was asked: “So you believe it’s a choice?”

“I believe it is a choice,” he responded.

Watch it here, from CBS News:

Looking up the meaning of that word on urban dictionary is pretty funny.

"Have you noticed how rapidly these media-invented "scientists" with their so-called "genetic evidence" vanish when their "findings" are peer-reviewed into oblivion."

Honestly, I haven't heard anything about this for awhile (maybe that's exactly your point). Have other scientists come out in dispute of the genetic angle? Funny, haven't heard anything about it in the mainstream. /s

Amen. Homosexuals need help in their struggle to break free from this terrible sin. They need our prayers and support like any other addict.

Love is helping these people get to Heaven not go to Hell.

God Bless Herman Cain for speaking the truth!

The follow up answer should be, but the politicians do not have the guts to say is:

“Show me one shred of evidence where it’s not a choice? Show me one shred of evidence that it’s in our genes to be gay? Show me one shred of evidence, e.g. twin studies whereby the twins are separated at birth, and one is gay and the other is not. Show me one shred of evidence, just one that it is NOT a choice. Is it an addiction? Could be a sexual identity issue? Could it be the product of upbringing, yes. Do these people need our love and support? Yes! ARe these people happy in their skin and not having relationship problems like the rest of us from time to time. No, they struggle deeply I am sure. Does this affect every household to some extent? Yes.”

"Romney thinks its OK"

Interesting. Which is worse - a congressman to phone a picture of his genitals or to approve homosexual practices?

Well, homosexual acts may be both a sin and a choice but if you want to get elected, that opinion is one that you’d better not publically express. The truth of the matter is that most of the voting public don’t care if an individual engages in homosexual activity. They do, however, care about placing political power in the hands of someone who might create laws based on their own personal religious beliefs. That’s just the way it is... Hermain Cain has just harmed himself. There are a heck of a lot more people in the “middle” than the left or right. Anyone who appeals too much to the right or left will lose a significant portion of the middle... it’s just a fact of life... those who campaign wisely pitch their core philosophy in a way to capture their base and as large a portion of the center as they can. The center has no problem electing fiscally conservative politician, who appeal to their common sense and posture themselves as the sane alternative. If, however, you start talking about “sin”, you’ve just lost yourself a lot of votes. The math on this is pretty simple.

YES! Well done, Mr. Cain! Gotta love somebody who doesn’t shy away from speaking the truth.

Without moral underpinnings, we are without hope. Homosexuality is wrong. We should say that it is wrong. If we are afraid to say it, because we worry that we will lose votes, then we are already lost.

We need leader's with principles. Not just ones that say things (or not say things) to get elected. Win or lose, they will know that they stood by their principles. That is what matters.

On the gun issue... not so much.

Really so you oppose him on this?

Total BS. The American people are sick and tired of politicians. Sick of people who try to be all things to all people. Cain did himself enormous good by stating forth right what he believed. People want leadership and integrity, not equivocating and political correct whiny nonsense. Most Americans agree with Cain and and sick and tired of the Establishment Media preaching their nonsensical PC gospels at them. They don't care what gays do at home but they are fully fed up being lectured by the radical gay lobby about how they have to worship at the shrine of their homosexual political agenda.

Thank God for Herman Cain boldly speaking the truth. But he needs to differentiate between same-sex attraction and behavior being a choice.

You have already lost on that one my freind, sorry. Just so you know, I am 100% against homosexuality... I am sick of it being shoved in our faces and I hate the political gains they have made... But, most of the voting middle of this country is fiscally conservative/socially libertarian or liberal... In short, most of the middle doesn't care what another adult does in the privacy of their own bedroom. If anyone plans on actually getting elected, they need to avoid the electric "third rails" which lose the middle. While I laud Mr' Cain on his values, he's losing votes when he makes statements like that on TV. It's a simple fact. He'd have been better off to have politely deflected the question and said homosexuality was against his personal beliefs... Then once elected he could have worked to keeping marriage limited to a man and a woman!!! Those who do NOT get elected CANNOT help fix the things that are wrong... You need to understand that.

Great, then you can hang around with your leader who did not get elected!!! Jeez, don't you realize it is possible to keep your principles, get elected and then enact change?

Have you noticed how rapidly these media-invented "scientists" with their so-called "genetic evidence" vanish when their "findings" are peer-reviewed into oblivion.

I've followed the argument about genetics closely, there really has not been a case made yet that its genetic, aka the gay gene, and ironically, the gay lobby is adamant that such research being done, cease.

Though their version of why they want the research to cease has to do with the claim that if the so-called "gay gene" is discovered, the next step would be both pre-natal testing, and genetic gene therapy alteration (aka, the end of homosexuality as we know it).........This is their opinion, not to be confused with it being mine.

Well, so nice that you have cleared that up for me. Frankly howerer, I'm pretty sure that what the Amarican public is really sick and tired of, is deficit spending and the economic destruction of our country and those politicians who are either spending us into oblivion or NOT stopping it. The economy is the number one issue in 2012... Those who fail to understand this will be steamrollered in the election.
