Today Michele Bachmanns spokesman, Ed Rollins, whom she recently hired, had some rather nasty things to say about Governor Palin. In order to give Bachmann the benefit of the doubt, we respectfully request that she either affirm her support for the long-time beltway fossils idiotic comments or refudiate them.
Update: (h/t Jim R) Via the Star Tribune, another of Bachmanns employees, Andy Parrish, attempted to rationalize the comments of her newest employee, Ed Rollins:
Bachmann aide Andy Parrish said Rollins was not speaking as a Bachmann adviser. The Congresswoman and Ms. Palin have an excellent relationship, Parrish said in an e-mail. Rollins was in his media analyst role.
People can judge for themselves whether this convenient excuse explanation is credible
or not.

Call 651-260-4648 to tell her what you think about Rollins!
BTW, Rollins doubled down on his attack against Palin with Chris Matthews today.
“Totally meaningless other than for sheets
and giggles.”
Agreed. Shiites and giggles. Just like much of the discussion here.
Michele hasn't posted anything in over seven hours.
If she doesn't clean this up quick, she'll end up like Senator Joe Miller, AK.
Comments and “likes” on Michele Bachmann’s Facebook page has dwindled to nothing over the past half day, compared to every day for the past six months. She’s being dumped bigtime.
Miscalculation followed by panic now looking for a way to backtrack........Me thinks.
“You don’t get it. “
I have not gotten word from Bachmann yet, on what she makes of Rollins’ comments, if that’s what you mean.
“..but don’t you DARE call it juvenile and self-destructive”
What? I don’t get to have an opinion too?
“Being condescending doesn’t help your debate and opinion.”
Agreed. Does me having an opinion make me condescending?
Speaking of debate and opinion: I’m not sure I saw all of Rollins’ comments. What did he say about Sarah that is not true from a political analyst’s point of view?
The comments I’ve seen were unwise from a like-minded political campaign’s perspective. But were essentially true.
Keep in mind that, to Mr. Ed and most political gurus, ‘serious’ work means building a political army and maintaining an active elected position rather than developing an audience. And, yes, as much as I like her, Sarah is technically a quitter. Regardless whether I agree with her reasons for quitting.
Michele is lambasted for not making the decision to fire Rollins within 24 hrs. How long do we give Sarah to announce at least a date for an announcement?
Do you have a theory on what makes some people so sure Sarah is running?
Do you believe Sarah has already decided, but is being dishonest about it?
Do you believe Sarah can’t make up her mind about it?
We now know she has the ‘fire in the belly’. If she knows she will run, but is just toying with us, I can’t help but find that very DC and annoying.
Well, I assume that the talent is waiting for a phone call from Camp Palin.
Technically hiring Rollins was Bachmann’s first “executive” decision. If this is an example of her leadership in action, then she is not ready for prime time. The only way to show she has any leadership qualities at this point would be to fire Rollins first thing tomorrow and issue a formal apology to her “friend” Sarah Palin for Mr. Rollins unauthorized comments.
She has until tomorrow noon. Otherwise I will lose all respect for her.
Yes it has. NEW OXFORD AMERICAN DICTIONARY'S 2010 WORD OF THE YEAR IS... REFUDIATE
What's that word they use in Harry Potter? RUBBISH!
Palin has executive experience as the governor in Alaska has more "powers" than those in the lower 48. Cain ran a successful business. Bachmann ran for office.
Boy do I second that!
To me there is a serious effort at work to fracture the conservative base, get a *Rino* elected in the primary and then re-herd the conservative base to support an anybody but OBummer *Rino*.
I think we all know who that *Rino* is.
I may be wrong, but that's what it smells like to me.
Perhaps the real talent doesn't want to have anything to do with her.
After watching Thompson last night on Hannity, your theory makes alot of sense. I also think Huckabee only stayed in the race as long as he did in order to run interference for McCain. The GOP elites want Romney...so they are seeing to it that lots of conservatives enter the primary, thereby spilting the conservative vote into millions of little pieces. They will then proclaim that we had ‘our chance’ with a full field of ‘conservatives’, but that ‘centrism’ won the day. Then we will hear the common refrain that we have heard for decades...’Get onboard or you will hand the election to the democrat’.
I say we turn the tables on them before they even get out of the gate by coalesing around Sarah early and in the millions. It’s their turn to get onboard the conservative train! I am also of the mind that Sarah should get West to agree to be her VP and announce it during the primaries. She and West would make an unbeatable pair imho.
That is exactly what they're doing. They've played that card here in Tennessee many times, bringing us RINO after RINO as a result. Because everyone knows that a RINO is better than a RAT. Or is it - McCain's loss to Obama ought to give notice that this approach isn't working too well. Unless, of course, the GOP leadership WANTS the 'rats to win. After all, there isn't a great deal of difference between RINOs and RATS anyway.
You may very well be right. I think that the main point of it all is “Stop Palin”. She has a nasty habit of kicking elites to the curb and cleaning up the “politics as usual” trash heap. A lot of good ole boys don’t want to lose their power. Especially to a girl.
As much as I hate to go third party(as this is the dems strategy for us)...it may be the only way to take this party back from the elites and rinos. Four more years of Obama would indeed destroy this country utterly...but once it’s over..my guess is that a democrat will not be elected again as President for decades. We are in for some very troubled times no matter who is prez at this point. The damage has been done and we are headed for a cliff.
Sorry to be ‘Debbie Downer’ so early in the AM.
