Unprompted, Sarah Palin brought up Rick Perry's name yesterday as a strong presidential candidate.
"I think he would be a fine candidate.... we have a lot in common. I really like him. But there are so many candidates and potential candidates out there who have so much to offer."
Indeed. Except for Palin herself, Perry would probably be the strongest tea party candidate.
Meanwhile, here's some vid from the New York Times of her stop in Gettysburg last night, where she reiterated the message that even though the 2012 field is strong, "there will be more strong candidates jumping in."
Truly, there is still a lot of time for folks to make up their minds and jump in and get their campaigns together. The field isnt set yet. Not by a long shot.
Which sounds like her way of telling GOP folks to keep the powder dry, and the media to keep on covering her.

The Bold in mine....There is some footage at the original link but not of her saying that about Governor Perry, she did in the past endorse him for Governor in his last primary. I have no idea if she was misquoted or not.

That may be your opinion, but it’s not supported by facts.
Perry is governor, has a solid conservative record (both fiscal and social), and pretty much the only one, who has a chance against Obama.
To: Tex Pete
Please explain your SMEARS of Perry with real facts and not just these vague cheap shots.
Perry is one of the most conservative Governors in the US today.

Palin brings out crowd for Perry rally near Houston
"Washington is broken. But your state under Governor Perry's leadership is setting an example that really a whole lot of other people now want to start following. And, as they say, if it ain't broke, why fix it?" Palin said.
To: nesnah
Shes just following Reagans 11th Commandment. I think I just heard Romney scream out about that......LOL.
To be honest, she hasn't had much problem trashing Rinos (and I can't recall disagreeing with her, when she has).

my belief is that Palin, has been coordinating with Bachmnan and Perry for the past year and it would not surprise me to see her bus tour stop in AUSTIN.....or in front of Bachmanns Congressional office in Minnesota

Please explain your SMEARS of Perry with real facts and not just these vague cheap shots. Perry is one of the most conservative Governors in the US today. There are some posters who smear everyone except Romney and never provide facts or references. I don't know if this is one of those cases, but I completely ignore their posts. Note: I haven't seriously reviewed Perry's record, but I will review it carefully if he runs.

Anybody have a link to the full exchange?

I like Rick Perry. I think Texas needs him yet. But I would not discourage his entry in the race. We need all the genuine conservatives we can muster to drown out the RINO element from the primaries. I put Perry in the same group as Cain, Santorum, Bachmann, and Palin. I do hope there is a P/VP ticket developed in there somewhere. But, like Palin says, it's still early and we have plenty of time to add new faces. I think it's funny when the media says we have no clear front runners, OR that Romney is the front runner (ridiculous)! I think we have a stronger base of conservative candidates warming up for this election than we have had for decades. I'm pretty excited really.

I looked for it, I even tried youtube, if she said it on her own without being asked, that makes the context almost an endorsement (but not quite).

I second your opinion - Rick Perry IS a big government, nanny state guy.
I go one further. He also is a “good ol boy” as in full employment of friends and family at the tax payer’s expense
To: nesnah
Shes just following Reagans 11th Commandment. If she brought him up on her own, without prompting or being questioned, then, she isn't following the commandment, she is going a step further.
