Progressivism: It's regulation, not socialism
PGA weblog ^ | 2011/05 | Me

Posted on 05/29/2011 3:01:24 PM PDT by ProgressingAmerica

I've been tossing around a few ideas in my head, I think I'll start doing quotes of the month in order to further highlight progressivism for people.  I say this because of how long it takes to record audio, and people need to learn about progressivism much much sooner.

This quote comes from Charles Van Hise, out of his book"Concentration and Control"(Google Books archive); archive.org

This is a snapshot of page 262

Take the time to read those pages, 262 and 263. You should read the whole book really. But we all need to become more familiarized with progressivism if we are to be more effective against them. Here is how it is presented:

The plan presented does not involve taking over property or its management. Indeed, it does not involve anything whatever except securing to the public a reasonable price in the same manner that reasonable prices have been secured from the public utilities, the only way in which it has been found practicable to do this. It is probably the only satisfactory way in which fair prices can be secured from the great industrial corporations. Under the plan proposed the industrial concentrations remain private property in charge of those who own them just as at present. Being granted the privilege of cooperation in restraint of trade, they are forbidden to take advantage of the public by charging unreasonable prices ; and if forbidden so to charge, there must be some organism which will enforce the prohibition. The prohibition probably could be enforced by lawsuit under common law; and therefore the proposal made simply gives to an efficient administrative body authority to do what the courts probably have power to do under the common law, but which they could not efficiently perform. Those who hold up the bogy of socialism because of the modest proposal to allow commissions to regulate prices, if they reflect, must conclude that they have only a bogy.

Hise makes it sound so innocent. We won't take your property from you, we'll just tell you how to run it. And it's only to regulate prices. Of course, they won't regulate anything else.

Regulation is government control over the means of production, and government control over the means of production is the same as socialism. Ownership and control are synonymous. He who is the owner has a right of control... and in this case, it’s the government.

Exactly right.

The Progressive movement is a fascist movement. It is America’s version of fascism.

There are of course many other flavors of socialism among the American left-wing but the ruling ideology of the Progressive movement is one of fascism.

That is why you saw many on the left upset about Obamacare. These were the more pure socialists who wanted a more pure system of socialism in place.

Obamacare is more progressive (fascist) in nature thus all of the back room deals, waivers and government panels to sit in place and regulate.

It’s already been done - private property but with government bureaucrats telling you what to do. It was called National Socialism.

The progressives we have use whatever means to do favors for their friends and buy votes with other peoples’ money. For everyone else, it’s called racketeering and is punishable by imprisonment.

Actually it is more properly called FASCISM.

Bingo! The Italian movement that took the name Fascism, and bequeathed it to posterity as the name for similar authoritarian systems, modeled itself on the original American "Progressives", Wilson and his ilk.

Socialism is dead as an idea: it has become manifestly clear that it does not work. Thus, the remaining instances of the totalitarian/authoritarian impulse (the bizarre dynasty in North Korea excepted) are all actually fascist: the Chinese and Vietnamese "Communists", and all the "left" parties from the American Democrats to the British Labourites to the Spanish "Socialists", all grudgingly admit that the market is necessary for there to be wealth to regulate, control, redistribute.

Today’s progressives are essentially regressives. They want to go back to killing unwanted babies. They want to eliminate civilized manners and have everybody live like barnyard animals. They want religion to be a worship of the earth. When I hear the word ‘progressive’, I think ‘pagan’.

Progressives are empty, angry souls.

This can never happen in America. We are protected by our Constitution, effectively shackling the feral government in chains by enumerating and limiting the few powers they have. </ pre Whiskey Rebellion; pre 1865, etc.>

It’s socialism. Precisely it’s FASCISM which is where the government allows private owners (to take losses, blame, pay taxes and bribes to govt, etc), but essentially runs and controls the businesses due to ever increasing government regulations.

Actually I'm convinced there is no real difference between Communism and Fascism, just different flavors of the same thing. Any comments?
