Oh its true and I've seen much worse. I worked at a Kroger back in my college days and it wasn't uncommon to see people come in on food-stamp day and blow there entire months food stamps on the best steaks, seafood and a ton of junk food. And I imagine it was all gone in a couple days, many of them looked well fed, so I assume they were obtaining food for the other 29 days of the month some other way. In fact I'm guessing that many of them actually worked under the table and the food stamps were used for nothing more than a big monthly party. A guess strengthened by the fact that many of them bought several cases of beer at the same time and pulled out a big wad of cash to pay for that.

You’re working your butt off so you can pay their medical benefits. And their kid’s bills. For education, food, and medical. And entertainment. And prison. And cell phones. And their grandkids. And the national debt. And the interest. And Harry Reid says that’s non-negotiable. And the debt ceiling will go up. and your kids will work their butts off too.
(What were you thinking?)

Most people who draw food stamps don’t do anything to make them go further. Since it isn’t their money, they don’t care what it costs.

Food Stamps are a form of currency. They’re sold for half their face value in the ‘hood.

I’ve worked in grocery too. We knew all about THAT time of the month. Hispanic families come out en masse, its like a trip to Six Flags for them. Three or four carts loaded down with meat and stuff, loaded into nicer trucks than any of us had, all paid for by one or multiple food stamp cards.
Yup.

Food stamps are all electronic now. Have been since the late 90s.

Cursory look, it doesn’t appear phony to me. Looks like my grocery bill, certainly not what I buy.
This is what is going to end this country and/or be one of the causes of civil war II.
