Rashard Mendenhall has created a stir with comments made on his official Twitter page regarding Osama bin Laden’s death.
The Pittsburgh Steelers running back on Monday tweeted: “What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side…”

i’m sympathetic to his first statement. I have always found it hard to “celebrate” a death, even the death of a person who certainly deserved death.
I was satisfied when Saddam was hung, but it didn’t fill me with joy. I was happy that Obama was dead, but I didn’t feel like celebrating the fact.
I also don’t get pleasure when we put people to death. I’m not against the death penalty, and think it is a necessary and right punishment for people who kill others without remorse or concern; but it doesn’t mean I have to like the taking of life.
Anyway, he lost me on his second sentence, so I don’t think his concern was the same as mine.

Wow. Illinois can charge a premium in their state because they are the “exclusive flagship university”. Iow actually markets to Illinois residents because out of state tuition is pretty close to instate Illinois.
I guess the engineers I have worked with have been no better or worse than those from Purdue (my school) or Iowa State.
