When the government attaches penalties and long prison terms to the dunce who never re-fills the ice trays after he uses the ice I made, they can have my icemaker. Until that happens, no sane mother I know will give it up willingly. I'm drawing the line here. I've gone along with the potties that don't have enough umph to flush things away. Ice made as needed is more energy efficient than ice made far away and transported in refrigerated trucks and stored for long periods. Also ice is a negative feedback to global warming.
