Staggering.
No other word can be substituted.
Except maybe mind numbing. But thats two words.
Often times politicians make arguments or defenses to explain away the vote or the legislation theyre crafting. They attempt to throw up a field of confusion that they hope will do just that; remove doubt surrounding their position.
Much of the time it works. But sometimes, sometimes, it just doesnt.
And this is one of those times.
Jesse Jackson is on the floor of the House making the case that something must be done to help the folks who dont yet have work, have jobs. That somehow someone, or something, is working against that agenda and is actually REMOVING those jobs that Americans might otherwise have.
And his example?
His example is the iPad. He attempts to illustrate that America doesnt have the jobs she needs because of technological advancements like the iPad. That somehow the iPad is taking jobs from America. For proof he offers Barnes and Noble as well as Borders. Stores that are going out of business because of the advent of the e-reader.
Im not lying:

There is a school in Chicago, Chicago State University, that is moving to a text book-less school in the ext few years And the good Congressman is bemoaning the loss of jobs for the publishing companies and book stores, libraries, librarians and jobs associated with paper.
Im surprised he stopped there After all, long ago, our books were hand written reproductions conducted by monks. If we REALLY wanted a Make Jobs program, we could just insist that all of our textbooks be hand written.
Serious people, this is the logic of the Leftists.

What about flint knappers for rifles?
I’ve decided to join the rat party - it must be nice to be able to spout utter nonsense in public and not get called for it.
