Does anyone know how applications from outside the US are processed?
If Obama was living in Indonesia and his parents wanted to get him a US SSN, do we know how that would be processed and what sort of SSN would result?
Let’s assume it’s legit, and he’s a citizen living outside the US, and needs to apply for his SSN and his parents are going to apply.
What happens and how is the number issued?

Looks like this is the form for folks overseas who need to apply for an SSN.
I looked it up, and our numbers correspond with the states we were living in at the time.. Oklahoma and Maryland.
His father had a Master’s Degree in Economics from Harvard.
“Article has some problems right off, since Obama wasnt 15 in 1977”
How can you make this determination? What PROOF do you have of Obama’s (if that is his legal name) age? We haven't seen his “VITAL” records.
On the document displayed, there are three different birth dates. I guess we can rule out 1890, but with three DIFFERENT dates why should we trust ANY of them?
I want absolute PROOF. Not speculation. Not conjecture. Not biased statements by supporters. FACTS, LEGAL DOCUMENTS, VITAL RECORDS, and all documents that are available.
I’m making the same point you are.
He was living in Hawaii in 1977
If you believe the fake, forged documents, he would have been 15 in the spring of 1977 as the article states.
” Obama’s mother returned to Hawaii in 1972, remaining there until 1977 when she went back to Indonesia to work as an anthropological field worker.”

Sorry, must have missed that
was he a goatherder ? (BOsr)
From 1968 to 1972, Dunham was a co-founder and active member of the Ganesha Volunteers (Indonesian Heritage Society) at the National Museum in Jakarta.[38][43] From 1972 to 1975, Dunham was crafts instructor (in weaving, batik, and dye) at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu.[38]
Dunham then had a career in rural development, championing womens work and microcredit for the worlds poor and worked with leaders from organizations supporting Indonesian human rights, women's rights, and grass-roots development.[31]
In March 1977, Dunham, under the supervision of agricultural economics professor Leon A. Mears, developed and taught a short lecture course at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Indonesia (FEUI) in Jakarta for staff members of BAPPENAS (Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional)the Indonesian National Development Planning Agency.[38]
From June 1977 through September 1978, Dunham carried out research on village industries in the Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY)the Yogyakarta Special Region within Central Java in Indonesia under a student grant from the East-West Center.[44] As a weaver herself, Dunham was interested in village industries, and moved to Yogyarkarta City, the center of Javanese handicrafts.[39][45]
In May and June 1978, Dunham was a short-term consultant in the office of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Jakarta, writing recommendations on village industries and other non-agricultural enterprises for the Indonesian government's third five-year development plan (REPELITA III).[38][44]
From October 1978 to December 1980, Dunham was a rural industries consultant in Central Java on the Indonesian Ministry of Industry's Provincial Development Program (PDP I), funded by USAID in Jakarta and implemented through Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI).[38][44]
From January 1981 to November 1984, Dunham was the program officer for women and employment in the Ford Foundation's Southeast Asia regional office in Jakarta.[38][44] While at the Ford Foundation, she developed a model of microfinance which is now the standard in Indonesia, a country that is a world leader in micro-credit systems.[46] Peter Geithner, father of Tim Geithner (who later became U.S. Secretary of the Treasury in her son's administration), was head of the foundation's Asia grant-making at that time.[47]
Dunham completed her coursework at the University of Hawaii for a M.A. in anthropology in December 1974, [5] and after three years in Hawaii, Dunham returned to Indonesia in 1975 to do anthropological field work, accompanied by her daughter Maya.[38][39] Her son chose not to go with them back to Indonesia, preferring to finish high school at Punahou School in Honolulu while living with his grandparents.[40] Lolo Soetoro and Dunham divorced on November 5, 1980; Lolo Soetoro married Erna Kustina in 1980 and had two children, a son, Yusuf Aji Soetoro (born 1981) and daughter, Rahayu Nurmaida Soetoro (born 1987). Lolo Soetoro died, age 52, on March 2, 1987 of liver failure.[41]
Well, that’s Wiki for ya. lol. Between that & Obama, who the heck knows WHAT the truth is.
So, it depends on which Wiki entry you want to believe. lol.
Which one has Obama’s backing? Whichever it is, I’ll take the other one.
How did you get yours? Were you on a military base or some similar place when you (or your parents) applied?
That link works fine for me but better to give Helen the traffic, it’s her piece.
That’s fine. His mother was in Indonesia and may be the one who applied for him.
Who knows?
We would need solid proof of things, and we just don’t have it. We have some stuff that looks odd, and that’s about it.
Nothing really solid.
Add to the fact those Durhams seem to be hard to keep track of and are always changing their story.
