Top Ten Reasons Why Sarah Palin is Running For President

Will she or won’t she run for President?

I once laid out the reasons why Sarah Palin has a better shot of becoming president than Barack Obama did before Obama announced his candidacy during the 2008 election cycle.

And while conventional wisdom among the chattering class continues to lean against Palin mounting a presidential run, Palin has been courting the conservative base while not alienating swing voters in swing states such as Ohio, Colorado, and Florida better than any potential GOP contender.

Too often, those who cover Palin do not listen to her words or read her statements, Facebook postings, or tweets. As a result, conventional wisdom holds that Palin is setting herself up to be an entertainer, a conservative money maker, or a right-wing flame thrower who seeks only to rouse up the conservative base and get rich quick off of it. If those who proffer these theories had listened to and read her words closely, they would know that Palin has been telling everyone that she is running for president in 2012. Here are ten reasons why.

That one is getting old. They are all on the precipice of entering. You snooze, you lose. Not to mention she spends no time in states she would need to win the nomination.

This “she is running an unconventional campaign” is hogwash.

the latest Rasmussen poll shows Obama beating Mitt by 5pts. 45-40. It shows Palin getting 38%. I don't think 2% is enough of a MOE to make the statement that she can't win. Unless you say Mitt can't win either. which means the gop can't win.

Oh and where can I get that crystal ball of yours. I need to play the lotto with it....

sure “hogwash” Just like she ran one in her mayor race, her Lt. Gov race, and her gov race. Let’s see almost 20 years of history of her running unconvential campaigns has now become “hogwash” I see.....

It’s not just you. There is a push going on here for Trump, but I don’t trust it. Just as I don’t trust Trump. If he can steal votes from Sarah, while Hillary plans a run against Obama, Hillary could win. Nope, don’t trust Trump at all.

I agree with you on Trump. A flash in the pan. Mrs. Palin, meanwhile seems to have maxed out at 12% or so. I don’t think she’ll pick up much more than that at this point. She’s a known commodity. I used to think she had a shot at the nomination. Now I’m convinced she won’t even contend.

Only problem is from the last CNN poll all of trumps support is coming form Mitt and Newt. None of Palin’s support. If Trump is trying to steal Palin voters he is doing a bad job of it.

That was a low population state with few voters. This is a national election and preaching to the choir gets you nothing other than the choir.

I agree you should shorten the post. Just give the bullet points. I agree with your premise.

Did they poll Sarah supporters or just Mitt and Newt supporters? What happens to the Mitt/Newt votes? They go to Trump, right? There you go.

What polls have her at 12% ? MSN POLLS that`s who, NBC/WSJ etc etc CNN

Come on man...wake up and smell the coffee :) You believe Chuck Todd, who takes part in the NBC/WSJ poll, actually has a roll in the wording of the questions etc. Or maybe CNN polls are your thing?

It doesn't matter. In fact it is harder to get elected in low population states. You have to win over individual people. you can't just run a 30 sec commercial. the smaller the election the more retail politics you have to do. that is the entire reason we have IA and NH as the first in the nation. so that the POTUS candidates just can't stand off and spend their way to the election. They have to go meet and greet the people and humble themselves to the voters and when you factore in a low population with an area almost half the size of the USA the energy and ability to connect and run a campaign is even bigger.

But hey nice try in trying to demean her accomplishments.

I think it was 100 year since a sitting gov was defeat in a primary race. In either a low or high population state....

It was for gop and gop leaning people. trump took all his support form Mitt and Newt. Mitt dropped to 9% from 18% last month and Newt dropped to 10% from 15% last month. Gov Palin held steady at 12% Trump increased from 95 to 19% and huck drop (I think) from 22% to 20%....

I said absolutely nothing about her accomplishments. She is free to enter the election and strut her accomplishments along with the rest of the field.

Why not ask her why she seems to show very little interest in doing that, instead of picking on me?

I have no power over that.

Can you explain this further?

I agree, I believe (and have since Barry’s immaculation) that she’s running. Re the “money grubbing” line of thought, there simply is no gold-digging i her or her family’s background. They certainly weren’t wealthy pre-2008 and all signs seemed to point that they were very comfortable with their lives. She did not seek fame/fortune; McCain and the VP nomination came to her. Her popularity and notoriety has come from her positions, personality and hard work (name another politician who so boldly and tirelessly supported the Tea Party - even when it wasn’t “cool”). And, an earlier post about her “unconventional” political campaigns was spot on - the only conventional one she has run was the one McCain forced her to (and we know how that ended up).

Furthermore, in spite of the polls and pundits (of all stripes now), can any reasonable person not envision that a Palin annoucement - even in June or July - won’t immediately suck the oxygen out of the “establishment” Pubbie campaigns? There hasn’t been a single GOP politician in recent memory who has been able to draw and energize crowds while showing extraordinary retail political skills.

And, if you’re not running, and you don’t have a past history of lots of foreign travel, you don’t make your first major int’l trip to India of all places!

I can’t say whether or when Palin will throw her hat in the ring. But, she has run a national campaign, and thus is not Fred Thompson or Rudy Guiliani. In a field in which no announced candidate has captured any public spark and the only potential one generating any buzz has spent money supporting liberal politicians than conservatives, I don’t believe the field is in any way “locked” to a late-announcer.
