1961 US News & World Report article on the "Untold Story of the Civil War". has quite a few unknown but interesting facts. Scroll to bottom of page to see actual article.
Bump for later.
marked for later
My grandmother told me that her grandmother told her they were three brothers, her great uncles, from upper state NY.
Everything from this conflict is old. Everyone involved... Dead.
Civil wars are the most destructive wars. We lost more persons in our Civil war than all wars this republic has engaged into date combined.
More people died at Antietam in an hour than died in Normandy in a week.
They were all good men.
Thanks for sharing a most interesting article.
However, I do question the title "Confederate States of America". I currently believe the correct title was "Confederate Slave States of America". The Confederate Constitution and the fact that non-slave states could not be part of the Confederation led to my belief.
I would appreciate valid responses that confirm this assertion or provide a cogent argument against it.
Call it a "negro problem" or a "poverty problem" or a "cultural problem" or whatever you want - but what a wonderfully politically-incorrect line that is borne out today in most northern cities, such as Detroit, Cleveland, New York, Buffalo....
It was just the CSA, not the CSSA.

This video by Carl Ellis is eye-opening about the cultural differences between difference parts of the black population in the U.S. http://www.myheritage.org/news/video-why-african-american-culture-is-at-a-crisis-point/
Liberal policies have fueled and sustained a “non-achiever” culture in the black community that has had devastating effects.
