The New Blacklist: ‘Kennedys’ (Miniseries) Pulled Due to Surnow’s (conservative)Politics
Andrew Breitbart Presents Big Hollywood ^ | 4/4/11 | John Nolte

Posted on 04/09/2011 7:11:11 AM PDT by Dr. Scarpetta

Short version: ”Yeah, the miniseries is fair and so we now know for a fact that Joel Surnow’s $30 million project was discriminated against because of his personal politics.”

Switch out the word “conservative” with Islam, gay, Black, female, Leftist or whatever and tell me how la-dee-da everyone would be about it.

Because everyone already knows how things operate for conservatives in Hollywood and either agree with the discrimination or are used to it, no one cares.

There’s also a bigger play at work here, the same play we saw in the fury ginned up by the Left prior to the release of the “Passion of the Christ.”

With the help of the mainstream and entertainment media, the idea is to make conservatives who engage in the culture so miserable it scares others away who might consider doing the same thing.

By so toxifying the atmosphere whenever a conservative encroaches on to their totalitarian hold on the culture, it effectively says to others, it’s not worth it — don’t do it.

Furthermore, even though cinema Leftists are currently in the process of filming critical bios of Margaret Thatcher and Dick Cheney, along with the HBO movie based on the book “Game Change” — a mostly un-sourced attack on Sarah Palin, the message to Hollywood’s rare conservative is also wildly hypocritical:

We can go after your sacred cows all day long, but don’t you dare come after ours.

Surnow hangs in there, though. After “24" he did the “The Half Hour News Hour” and then jumped right into the hotbed of “The Kennedys.”

I have a lot of admiration for those who work in this business openly like that.

The business of show is tough enough without also taking on the burden of being a “Nazi.” They deserve our support.

The Kennedys miniseries was supposed to be on the History channel but ended up on the little-known Reelz Channel. The Kennedys and other liberals accomplished that.

It will be repeated Sat. & Sun at 2 pm ET/11 am PT on Reelz Channel. You can catch up on episodes 1-6.

The conclusion will be on Sunday at 8 pm.

I have episodes from 1-5 now. It’s also available on bittorrent for downloads if anyone is interested. Just finished part 1 and will go thru it all by the weekend. Tom Wilkinson, the Brit actor who played Joe Wilson never lets me down.

I didn't even realize I had the Reelz Channel until this controversy started.

Sorry but the First Amendment has absolutely nothing to do with this. No government city, county, state or federal had anything to do with the History Channel pulling The Kennedys. The History Channel simply made a business decision.
Did the History Channel cave to pressure. Hell yes. But they are not the government. Only government can censor.

Tell that to Glenn Beck. Continue giving in to the communists every time they whine about something and conservatives won't have a voice in this country anymore. EVERYTHING will be "censored". All we will get is the propaganda that the communists want us to hear. Sort of like what is going on in our public schools and universities right now. Do you think Surnow would be allowed to speak at one of those "institutions"? I don't think so. NO MORE MISTER NICE GUY!!!

The series has been watchable thus far; Wilkinson is outstanding as Old Joe. Kinnear is doing well as JFK, Barry Pepper is great as RFK. Katie Holmes is pulling off the Jackie visuals quite well, but her Boston accent comes and goes without warning.

Overall, it’s been a pretty decent watch.....

I never realized how much of an immoral scumbag JFK was.

Wilkinson is really outstand as Joe. What a despicable human being he was, and he raised JFK...

Rose Kennedy and Jackie went through a lot...

I may be wrong, but I don’t think Jackie ever had a Boston accent; I believe it was an upper-crust accent from somewhere else — maybe European?

Pulled because of political viewpoint or low ratings?

It wasn’t getting very high ratings. The channel it appeared on isn’t even on my cable.

If this is the Conservative version of the Kennedys, I wonder what the Liberal version would look like. Bobby comes off looking like a combination of Thomas Aquinas, Machiavelli, and Napoleon, the savior who’s almost never, it seems, out of the oval office—JFK’s conscience, most trusted and valuable advisor, militarily as well as politically. LeMay’s portrayed as pompous hawk, constantly bested in strategy and bon mots by both brothers. And that’s just for starters.

It was pulled from THE HISTORY CHANNEL because liberals fought it, and it ended up on the Reelz Channel. No one else wanted to show it. Thank liberals for that.

I agree with you in every detail except this is not a First Amendment issue.

Same as a cafe posting a sign saying “No Guns Allowed on the Premises” is not a Second Amendment issue.

Joe Kennedy was truly one of the most despicable men of all time. His manipulation of the press was extraordinary and was certainly instrumental in establishing the Pravda reporting that is now prevails in the MSM. At the time of the Kennedy election, the head of Readers Digest(at that time considered quite conservative)later admitted that he had been co-opted by accepting a home loan, I believe, from Old Joe. In return, the Readers Digest ignored a lot of the unsavory facets of the Kennedy clan.
It was a tale undoubtedly repeated over and over until now we have a press that is deaf, dumb and blind except for their ideological talking points delivered from above...and the worst thing is that they think they are objective and unbiased and couldn't be convinced otherwise.
