Trump May Be the One! April 8, 2011

The government shutdown is at hand. Whose fault is it? Is it possible to look at this impasse from a totally objective point of view? Why must all issues before the American people have to deteriorate into a partisan feud? ’Twas ever thus in this once great Republic. It seems to me that bill is long overdue — the bill we owe for the deficit, profligate spending that has been going on since Obama took office. It was even deficit spending when George W. Bush was president, but not nearly as bad as Obama has made it. With economies collapsing all over the world and even nature conspiring against this once great Republic, is it any wonder that Congressman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin has had to come up with a budget that will stanch the hemorrhaging of the economy?

There may be certain aspects which need fine tuning, but the Democrats don’t even want to give it a serious and thorough examination. And the budget Ryan has proposed is not to take effect until 2012. So, here we are at this juncture where we have to cut the deficit and Barack Obama and his chief stooge, Harry Reid, will not even consider it. Are the politicians really concerned about this government shutdown? No, the Democrats are gloating because they know that thanks to the mainstream media, the majority of the public will blame the Republicans as they did in 1995.

That means Obama can probably lollygag his way to a second term. But wait! Obama as a potential candidate was different from the average politician and had charisma. In 2008 he gave the bored voter something to get excited about — hope and change. Voters really didn’t look at Obama’s voting record in the Illinois and U.S. Senate where he voted in the various pieces of legislation before him . . . PRESENT. Yes, rather than vote yes or no, up or down, he voted present so wouldn’t be held accountable.

Obama was a stealth candidate who had his college records sealed. This is the surreptitious, cunning opportunist who will not even produce his birth certificate. Therefore, there are those who say we don’t even know if he passes constitutional muster by proving he is a native-born American citizen. But, most Republicans are loathe to bring this question up. They are timorous to begin with and then their yellow streak becomes broader when they contemplate being called racist, which to most white Americans is the kiss of death.

It is not racist to insist a person running for the highest office in the land prove he is eligible. There is only one potential candidate who has demonstrated he is not afraid. And if you people are looking for someone different; if you are looking for the right man at the right time, then you don’t have to look any further than the man who stands beside me in a photo on the wall at the Reo Diner Restaurant . . . Donald Trump!

Keep in mind that Ross ran third party. Trump has already stated he will not do it. It’s GOP or nothing. His comparison to Perot is misguided.

Trump is no better than Romney. Two liberals lying through their teeth. Huckabee can’t win either.

I agree with you. So far the field of GOP wannabees really sucks.

Only children get excited about pop culture figures.

Read about the history of the Wollman Skating Rink. He's more than a pop culture figure.

I like the Donald but I’m not sure I want him to succeed to the stupidest vote getter in the history of American Presidencies.

Bob Grant is a genius. Anyone who has ever listened to him for a certain length of time can only be in awe of his memory and instant recall of facts, names, dates, etc. He is incredible. I love listening to him!

I understand Bob’s feelings about Trump.....it is a relief to hear someone speak who isn’t afraid....and Trump is not afraid. If all falls into place, Trump may be the one. (even tho he is not a true conservative). Sarah is the female version who is conservative, so we will have to see what pans out.

And that will make him a good President??? He’s a one hit wonder! A celeb! All I keep hearing about him is going after Obama and the birther issue. Let’s assume it’s all true? What does he bring to the table after that??? He’s going to raise taxes on everything and lower taxes on bad wigs!

I don’t mean to rant but the fact that anyone is taking The Don seriously as a candidate is laughable. Before I take him seriously, he better bring more to the table than my local hack radio DJ who rants daily about the Birther issue. It was fun at first but hearing it day after day gets old. Mix it up! Find something new to throw in once in a while!

He’s the only mainstream politician talking about the birth certificate. The popular radio hosts won’t even talk about it. Trump talks about China and that he wants America to be respected in the world again.

If he was just “talking” about it, it would be one thing. He is fanatical about it. Is it something that needs to be addressed? Absolutely. But when someone spends 99% of their time in the media discussing one issue, it becomes tiresome. Do you not see that it is a ratings grab? He held a meeting today with the press based solely on the birther issue. This is TV ratings and nothing more.

I talk about China and that I want America to be respected in the world again. Almost daily! That doesn’t make me a good candidate for POTUS. Matter of fact, if I were to take a step back and look at myself, I wouldn’t make a good POTUS nor would I vote for myself. I’m WAAAY too biased! I don’t want to hear that someone is “talking” about stuff. We have a President who does that already. I want to hear factual information about the condition we are in and how we are going to improve on it. Give Me Facts. Not some celebrity who has been in bankruptcy time and time again, spends his media time on reality shows and Howard Stern, and has picked literally one topic to base his whole presidency on.

The birth certificate issue is what is giving him attention, and conservatives want him to continue to talk about it. Candidates running discuss things. I’m not voting for him, but I like him on this issue.

I appreciate you saying that. I admire him as well. Through good or bad business plans, he has been the man to watch. Mostly for his “over the top” actions. I like him on this issue as well but I am just disturbed hearing that people actually are taking him seriously as a candidate. I truly do not believe he takes HIMSELF seriously as a candidate but there are a lot of fellow Freepers who are thinking he is the next coming. Reminds me of a couple of years ago....

How about His tagline to lying callers!!

" Fake, Phony, Fraud!"

"Get off my phone!" Then he hangs up the phone!

Classic stuff!

I listened for 25 years.
