Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has been on a roll the past few weeks. While the mainstream news media has dismissed the Obama birth certificate issue, Trump has embraced it and questioned why Obama will not release his long form birth certificate. While most of the other GOP presidential candidates offer to work with China in a cooperative manner, Trump maintains the U.S. needs to get tough and slap a massive 25 percent tariff on their products. On the Fox News OReilly show, Trump promised to withdraw American troops from any Middle Eastern country that does not sell oil to the U.S. at discounted prices.
While he is considering the race, he is garnering more media attention than all of the other potential candidates combined. As a result, he is improving his standing in the polls. In the latest Public Policy poll of likely GOP voters in New Hampshire, Trumps runs a strong second to Mitt Romney. The result surprised the pollsters, but shows that Trump is striking a chord with the base of the Republican Party.
Although he is gaining traction with the voters, Trumps bold ideas are not sitting well with the media elite. On the OReilly program, Fox News, analyst Brit Hume claimed that Trump was too controversial and that the GOP would be better suited to find a candidate that would keep the focus on Obama. Hume is a typical Republican insider who wants the party to nominate a safe candidate who will not bring up controversial issues like Obamas birth certificate. In contrast, most GOP voters are ready for a non-traditional candidate who will take the fight directly to Obama.
In the 2012 election, Obama will have $1 billion to spend. The only candidate who can match him dollar for dollar is Donald Trump. Trump is also very comfortable on television and is a very good communicator. As a smart and successful businessman, he can easily debate Obama on the issues.
Unlike Obama, Trump has a very public track record. While much of his personal life has been controversial and he has been married several times, at least his background is available to anyone who wants to see it. In contrast, Obama is the real mystery man, even after 27 months in the Oval Office. According to World Net Daily, besides Obama's actual birth documentation, the president has refused to release his Punahou school records, Occidental College records, Columbia University records, Columbia thesis, Harvard Law School records, Harvard Law Review articles, scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, passport, medical records, files from his years as an Illinois state senator, Illinois State Bar Association records, baptism records and his adoption records.
It is shocking that the mainstream news media has been so lax in their background checks of Barack Obama. No GOP President would be allowed such kid glove media treatment. The media demands that Republican candidates release all of their personal information, claiming that its the publics right to know. Of course, in the case of Obama, the mainstream news media has been strangely silent.
At least Trump is pushing an issue that is of interest to Americans who continue to question the official birth story of Barack Obama. By highlighting an issue that other GOP presidential contenders will not touch, Trump is displaying both courage and keen political instincts.
This issue has helped to separate Trump from many of his competitors and earned him high praise from conservative tea party activists. As each day passes, it seems more and more likely that Trump will not only run for President, but also that he will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2012 presidential race.
does that title make any sense?
Think giving birth...maybe if “birther” was in quotes you would think of it as I do???
All ridiculous...only birthing the idea since the press has tried so hard to ignore it.
I admire his guts, but I don’t think he has a prayer...and that’s unfortunate since he is probably better than 9 out of 10 republicans that will run next time. I don’t think america is ready yet for a president that has been married 3 times, each time to a bimbo trophy wife.
Bachmann and Trump seem to be ahead of the pack.
if they can steal it from the us treasury..i think his first election cost us a bunch
While his bold statements are no more extreme than Sarah Palin’s, he does have more experience with hard line international dealing.
Donald: name Donald means ruler of the world
Trump: occupational name for a trumpeter
His name means a Great chief who proclaims loudly.
Words mean something. Interesting.
In a normal year, I’d agree.
This time though...I’ll say this:
My favorite candidate is Cain, but he’s not gaining much traction.
That leaves Trump. Because of ALL of them, the only one that has me thinking “we can WIN this thing next year” is Trump.
does that title make any sense?
No it does not .
The greatest President of all time was married twice, and serial cheater Bill Clinton left office with an approval rating over 60%.
If Trump speaks truth to power, the public won’t care about his marriages. His relationship with his children will matter, and both Ivanka and Donald Jr. have presented themselves very well on their dad’s TV show. I actually think that Ivanka is the smartest one of the bunch, and would have an excellent future in politics. Wharton school of business grad, beautiful, and confident.
Brit Hume embarrassed himself badly when he made those comments. How insulting to nearly every conservative to dismiss every candidate except Tim Pawlenty (who Hume described as “smart” and “attractive”) as unelectable. Trump says he went to the best schools, etc, and he sure has the $ to hang with ‘em, but he sure rubs the elites the wrong way. Which tells me that he’s really not one of them, and I like that.
At least Trump would stare down the ChiComs, the Mexican cartels and the Islamists, not to mention the Marxists and Soros types...
That he had a few wives is immaterial, not ideal, but clearly a lot better option that the Huckster or Romney.
Personally I Like what Trump is doing, somebody has to, I also Like what he has to say and he is a smart guy and very shrewd, I do believe he smells blood when it comes to Barry, and my guess is he already has the dirt or he would never expose himself like this, and to that I say BRING IT ON DONALD, Force these Quislings into the Light of Day for the Whole World to see. The Ruling Class is getting very Nervous about Barry’s Past.
The Huckster and Romney come over as Laurel and Hardy.
Hmmmmm.....
We’ve had womanizers, murderers (allegedly), adulterers, “cigar aficionados”, liars, frauds (”present” now in the w.h.), tax cheats and you’re worried about someone with divorce in their background?
Smokin’ is a better work for Ivanka.
He has the funds to match O which is desirable.
He understands business and how wealth is created.
He is pro-American and has an realistic view of international scene.
He can defend being rich and argue that everyone should be successful.
But, what is his education like?
Not holding an office before is weak.
How about VP?
I clicked on the thread to find out what it meant. Maybe that's its purpose.
