Jon Stewart’s Right On Corporations
Creating Orwellian Worldview ^ | 4/6/11 | Alaphiah

Posted on 04/06/2011 8:11:41 AM PDT by Alaphiah123

Jon Stewart is right. While demonizing unions Conservatives all too often over look the total destruction that Corporations have waged on the American economy and the American Middle Class (see 4:49min video)

I am not newcomer to the argument that Corporations are ungrateful, unpatriotic out of control entities that have abused America and the American people to maximize their profits. (see previous posts below)

Everything that is wrong in America today can be blamed on an out-of-control corporate environment that will do anything and everything for the sake of the bottom line. Profit!—Alaphiah (source) ***

America is bleeding.

For decades, American corporations without any fidelity to the country of their birth have been outsourcing the manufacturing base and economic infrastructure of America to India and China for slave labor wages and usurious profits.

Yeah they should focus on being patriots and go out of business if that's what it takes to make their point. Ungrateful scum.

There is a good video here, which touches on a lot of stuff, but in it Webster Tarplay goes into some detail about our economic issues.

Yea know, he has a point. Corporate welfare needs to be ended. And from my understanding the republican budget addresses that very thing.

Exactly! If the US would quit treating business like the Bad Guy and realize that it's business that drives this entire system, all of us would be better off. A rising tide lifts all boats.

The Socialist's idea is that the pie is fixed so I must take more away from you to have more for myself (or those too lazy to get their own). The Capitalist's idea is make the pie bigger and, even if the relative size of your slice doesn't change, you still have more than you did before. For someone who's supposed to be really smart, why can't Barry understand this?

No more corporate welfare, simplify the tax code, no loopholes, no favoritism, no incentivizing, cut the red tape and paperwork, etc

Corporations work for their owners’ interests. Can we not act outraged when the owners and their agents act in ways that maximize profits?

No, conservatives do not overlook the damage of corporations... not all are corrupt... but ALL that are in bed with the Fed are evil and corrupt.

The irony is that the worst / most corrupt corporate leeches on Gov’t money and benefits are liberal supporters.

That’s part is left out of Stewarts leftist narrative.

Spoken like a true fan of the Commie Pinko union thugs. The reason jobs went overseas is to get out of the grasp of the unions. When you have to charge $3000 extra on the price of a car you are trying to sell, just to make up what is owed in benefits to the workers, you to would send factories to Mexico, China, et al.

Usurious profits? The only job of the Company is to make a profit, not to provide comfortable jobs. Maybe you could pull your head out of your Little Red Book and take note that this Gov't does everything it can to shift business overseas. Just look at the highest corporate tax rate in the world we have. Crazy over regulation also kill jobs.

John Leibowits is your source? Try posting at DU. They may be more receptive to your nit wittery.

The implication by Stewart and left is that this is a left vs. right issue, and the evil right is for the corporations not the people. This is so wrong, and can be stripped down as a lie so easily.

That said, the massive tax breaks, subsidies, grants, etc, etc have to be put to an end because it is contributing to this alliance between big business and big government that GE’s Immelt spoke so positively about last year. This is a root cause of our current situation.

Yeah they should focus on being patriots

You can forget that, as most that run these fat corps are criminals that routinely hire illegal aliens as they pay off the politicos to keep the borders open and their illegal low wage golden goose alive.

Most of these people are as patriotic as a ham sandwich and are only out for themselves.

Profits regardless of consequences will eventually leave America dead on the floor.

Big is bad, be it government, union, or corporation.
The evil comes from the size and unaccountability, it's inherent and inevitable when you have an entity that is structured in such a way that accountability is difficult or impossible.

I read stuff like this and want someone to define "corporation". That is a very very broad word. For example, I run a small business that is a corporation. None of the gripes about corporations I read here apply to my business. So? Are we talking about publically traded corporations? GE, General Motors (bad example?), google, etc? I agree that any of these guys that have offshored American jobs are SOB's. Are they the bad guys?

I know one group of bad guys and have been posting about them on FR for years. Those are the nonprofit corporations. When I first posted about them here years back there were about 500,000 of them. Now there are 1.5 million+. Many of these entities are in business to enrich their handlers along the lines of a Jesse Jackson or Jimmy Carter or push their own political agendas ala all the George Soros nonprofits. Most of these "charities" (including the NRA) do not feed, clothe or house humans. To me that should be all a nonprofit can exists for. If you do that you get discounted postage and whatnot.

My view is that no corporation should pay taxes nor should they have any government assistance of any kind. The tax code should be changed and along with that personal taxes and the IRS should be thrown out the window. Do a national sales tax.

We need serious and smart people working in Washington. Unfortunately that is not the case. There are very simple solutions to problems but we do not have people that can change a light bulb. Think Reid, Pelosi, Shelia Jackson-Lee, Boxer, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and the most useless of idiots Obama or whatever his name is.

Washington is stuck on stupid. Always has been....
