Our move to the area we are in was mistake that we didn't realize until it was too late. Thus, we were on our plan to get to a more remote location in the coming year. However, our retirement plans were derailed by the economic 'splosion. I'm a builder and have four new homes completed, but not saleable in this market and six undeveloped lots. This was to cement our future as being a private small builder, we have no pension plan. We made the decision to invest heavier than we were doing at a point when real estate was going good and we will have to work our way through it.

The tough part of it is feeling totally helpless for the first time in my life and having no course of action but to seek small jobs to service the debt on our properties while we watch (almost) helplessly as our country flounders in much the same condition as we are in personally.

The two things that weigh on me most heavily are my grandsons (5 and 2) whom I haven't been able to visit in two years and the fact that they were born in this time and may witness the virtual end of the greatest nation the world has known.

I hate to think where all of this may be going, but one way or another we will soon be among fellow patriots in a region other than the Pacific North West where most of the population longs for the U.N. to chart their future.

Such a great portion of Americans got caught in this Socialist trap sprung on us.

I am relatively safe in my north east forest haven - but I have five kids and 13 grandkids ‘out there’.

One is a long-hauler - was planning on getting land in north eastern Washington. No more. Truckers have had so much piled on them that those who have been able to ride it through (pun not intended) are hanging on by their fingernails. But he does plan on getting land back here instead. He figures that even if he only has a piece of land - he has a place to stand on that is his - and he knows how to build a tipi ;o)

Another son has been at the Kennedy Space Center for almost 30 yrs. Thanks to our so-called CIC, he will soon get his pink slip - lose his insurance and no prospects, at his age and in his profession, of getting another job...looking at the probable loss of house.

Daughter and hubby (military) bought a house 2 yrs ago at $100,000 less than it was listed the year before. How could they lose? Big time as they don't have the choice of hanging on until things turn around, if they do. The military will move them in the next year or two. They will take a huge hit.

And so it goes.

Just maybe, for you, things will level off a bit? Maybe enough where you could rent the 4 houses, letting others pay off the bulk of the mortgages - until things reverse?

Hang in there! We all have to be determined that these vermin in control of our country will NOT prevail. They will find that America and Americans are far different from other countries that have been subjugated by tyrants.
We know what freedom is and we still have our guns.

And we have to weed out the gutless RINOS along with the Socialists. Sins of Omission are just as bad as deliberate ones.

but I fear it's going to be a rough ride. It's just as hard to KEEP freedom as to win it.

I know the feeling, man. I think there could be three things that could save us. One, God himself working through principled people. Two, everything collapses and we rebuild things the way things should be, either taking part of the U.S. and breaking away or rebuilding the whole country, piece by piece, like in the post-nuclear war book series by William Johnstone, "Out of the Ashes." "Ashes...." is where a general, General Ben Raines, rises up and cleans out the United States (after a nuclear war with the USSR, it was written in the 1980's) of thugs, city by city, street by street. That leads me to a third, I admit this is a dangerous dice role, but see my tagline below, maybe we need an American version of a General Pinochet. This third option will need someone who needs to take an iron hand on some things with the ideal of restoring the Republic to it's Constitutional roots after a period of cleanup, maybe there would be like a council of like minded folks behind this leader to temper him/her and monitor things. Things are going down the crapper so bad that this is starting to look good at times.
