“I almost wish that there would be, like, a simultaneous telecast, and all Americans would be forced–forced at gunpoint no less–to listen to every David Barton message, and I think our country would be better for it. I wish it’d happen.”

I don't know anything about Barton. This is not a post about whether Barton is right or wrong. For Huckabee to suggest we should all be "forced at gunpoint" to listen to him is very troubling.

This video is a week old. Can you imagine the outcry from the MSM is Sarah Palin would have said this? I can only conclude that they are licking their chops at the prospect of Huckabee as the GOP nominee.

The link will take you directly to the YouTube video.

David Barton is a Christian minister.

I'm sure Huckster was just being tongue-in-cheek, but these types of comments and actions are typical of him.

Exactly...still, the left will try to crucify him all the same. What have they got to do with their spare time anyways since “Queer Eye” was canceled?

He was joking about gunpoint - did everyone hear the audience laugh ?

David Barton simply want Americans to understand the Christian roots of America. It is a fact, engraved all over Washington, DC, on the Liberty Bell and in the DATE ON THE CONSTITUTION. America was founded by the colonists of the thirteen colonies and almost all of them were Christians. The left just can’t get over that.

Mr. Huckabee was jokingly expressing his appreciation of Barton’s efforts and an opinion that Americans would do well to become familiar with the many historical facts that can be learned from Mr. Barton’s research. It will indeed make them better citizens of a nation called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, which, as Americans, they should desire, since they are Americans. Granted, Mr. Barton is not the only such historian in the marketplace, but he certainly is an able and dedicated one. His material is fascinating as it contains many factual, barely known and very surprising facts. Watching him a few times on tv made me sick to think of the vile lie of a public education I received.

Mr. Huckabee is a personable fellow, but is too liberal in certain areas, for example punishment of convicted criminals, to be a candidate that the right wing can all get behind. And it’s hard for him to garner support from Democrats and the left because he has not publicly claimed to be a communist or a union lacky.

What Huckabee is saying is impractical and tongue-in-cheeck, but he’s almost right. One of Barton’s books is, “American History in Black and White”. The book blows away the idea that Black people owe everything in progress to the 60’s hippie radicals, and shows that Black people have stood on their own and been a part of American society since the beginning. In other words, it ain’t the White Man holding them back. So much myth and falsehood is passed on from generation to generation, that in a sense, we DO need to force people to sit down and listen to some truth. People sure won’t hear the truth on the MSM.

I had read rumors the Huckabee wasn’t going to run. I sure hope sthey were true because if he still is thinking of running, it should be for the border, not for President. Talk about irresposibility and insult to the 2nd amendment.

My thoughts exactly. The media has been protecting Huckabee, and has done everything in it's power to try to push him into the race. If he was feared by the left, this would have been front page news.

The intention of my post is to highlight the hypocrisy of the media. It's not a debate about Barton's message. If there was a different source for the YouTube video, I would have used it.

Well, the thing with Huckabee is that he’ll try to be cute with his comments. He’ll say something mean and then “aw shucks” his way out of it. Like he did an ad that had something that resembled a cross in the background and then he later pretended it was just a coincidence. Or the time he held a press conference denouncing an attack ad but still showed it just so people can see it. The man is the very definition of a slimeball. If he’s the GOP nominee I’m staying home. I don’t even want him as VP or cabinet secretary.

I wouldn’t go to the use of force, but every American should read and listen to David Barton. He has the largest private archive of ORIGINAL documents and letters from the Founders in the world, and he knows that stuff backwards and forwards. Can quote from it like they’re letters from his best friends. And maybe they are. Wallbuilders is his organization. He’s been on Glenn Beck a lot.

Barton, a Texan, has been on Glenn Beck many times and educated me quite a bit, especially about the Revolutionary War.

Precisely. When Barton was on Glenn Beck showing the pictures of the black Founding Fathers like Salem Prince, it was VERY moving. The commie-libs have gotten away with historical revision on a mass scale.

The only ones forcing people to have garbage forced down their throats is the left wing Public Education Mafia which is supported by closet left-wingers on Free Republic in spite of the decades of gross criminality, preaching of immorality and statism.

The MSM says nothing about the use of the Public Schools as a true propaganda tool by the left, because they are in cahoots and have longed for the current porno culture that would elect a Marxist demonstrator to the Whitehouse.

So because most of the world now uses the Gregorian calendar, therefore most of the world is Catholic? No, we're not. The fact is that the Gregorian calendar became a standard in spite of most people NOT being Catholic.

The fact that "most" of the colonists were Christians of various sorts does not change the fact that Christianity and the Bible had absolutely zero examples to offer as models of a representative republic in which the rights of individual citizens' lives, liberties, and property were protected by law.

Most of the European Christians who fled to the New World in search of "religious freedom" were fleeing from ... other Christians.

The fact is that our founders had observed that every government with an established official religion had led to religious tyranny, and they wisely circumvented such in our First Amendment.

This is like Ann Coulter’s comment that Muslim leaders should all be killed, and the rest converted to Christianity.

In other words, idiotic!!!

In that it just gives the left exactly the kind of soundbites they salivate over.

I don't know who Barton is, either, but maybe a gun is necessary to get people to listen to him.

Whatever works.
