The slant is evident: Al-Jazeera wants to ignore stories that put Arabs and Muslims that it favors in a bad light. Having encouraged a revolution in Libya, Al-Jazeera is now critical of President Obama’s U.N.-backed effort to protect the people being slaughtered by dictator Muammar Gaddafi. The channel is running a piece by Phyllis Bennis of the far-left Institute for Policy Studies arguing that the Western air and naval strikes on the regime lack “credibility.” The fear is that Obama might somehow—through this badly conceived U.N. operation—protect the national security interests of the U.S. and the West in Libya before the country falls into the hands of radical Jihadists.

NEW YORK — Al Jazeera's ubiquitous presence at news events in Iraq has some wondering whether the Arabic satellite news network is a willing or even enthusiastic partner in the anti-American campaign being waged by Iraqi insurgents.
Said to be the most watched Arabic network, available in 53 million homes around the world, Al Jazeera promotes itself as independent and professional, with journalistic integrity.
It often has the first video of hostages, including the Italian security guard who was killed on camera last week. The network also regularly airs footage of roadside bombs going off and other attacks on coalition forces, leading some to wonder if their crews are being tipped off in advance.
Last week, when Al Jazeera reported that hundreds of thousands of civilians had been killed by U.S. forces in Fallujah, Defense Secretary ... called it "vicious, inaccurate, outrageous and inexcusable."
[..] And the U.S.-led coalition says it has documented 34 instances last week alone of Al Jazeera hyping, misreporting or distorting events in Iraq.
Media experts say the coalition's criticism is valid and critics say the network may be fanning the flames of hatred against the United States.
But representatives from Al Jazeera say the network abides by the rules, acting as professionally as possible in an Arab world not always accustomed to freedom of expression.
Al Jazeera said it would be censorship not to run videos of Westerners being killed and deny it is in bed with the insurgents.

Dozens of people injured by Hezbollah rocket attacks on Israel sued al-Jazeera news outlet yesterday for allegedly helping the terrorists aim their deadly missiles.
The Manhattan federal court suit -- which seeks $1.2 billion in damages -- says al-Jazeera journalists "repeatedly and intentionally" transmitted "real-time audiovisual footage" of bomb strikes in the Holy Land during July and August of 2006.
Broadcasts of the "precise impact locations" on the Arab-language satellite network allegedly allowed Hezbollah fighters to adjust the direction and trajectory of their crude projectiles, which lacked any internal guidance systems.
"On several occasions, al-Jazeera personnel in Israel were caught red-handed making such recordings and transmissions, and were arrested by Israeli authorities for violating censorship rules," court papers say.

I agree that al Jazeera has a clear bias but when I’ve watchd it what has struck me is that its bias is only incrementally more discernible than the American lamestream media’s obvious bias too. Blame America First is basically what AJ and the LSM are all about. There is a distinction here without a difference.

It is bias when it comes to the security of America/Israel, etc. Then it spreads to anti-West larger bias.
