FreeRepublic, IIRC was founded on the outrages of Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton, an abuser of our Constitution, was at his core a believer in Bill Clinton. He hired politically astute people who could get him reelected. Clinton was a rat hack.
OTOH, Hussein is a true believing Marxist. His sycophant advisers never held a real job; they kinda like the public works of Lenin and Mao involving year ‘round camps for dissidents. They would happily march every Freeper off to such vacation spots if they could get away with it.
With Hussein and his people we are dealing with the real deal.
With Libya what have we heard recently? "to stop a possible genocide" "This is humanitarian aid".......this is right out of Samantha Power's thinking, it was in her books (Chasing the Flame: Sergio Vieira de Mello and the Fight to Save the World) and (A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide)
It's the premise of using military force and financial means to stop genocide and make peace agreements
I believe that Libya and possibly other future countries are precursor to justify a ultimate military "humanitarian" force in Israel to make peace in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict...remember that a UK Guardian article last May IIRC said rumors were that Obama with Europe/U.N. was planning to "force peace" in the conflict....I believe that GOD FORBID Obama wins a second term that he will be free from all inhibitions to "make peace" the liberal way...and yes, it does sound biblical!
