President Barack Obama is no General Patton.
A Reuters poll shows that only 17 percent of Americans view the President as a strong, decisive military leader, while almost half see him as "cautious and consultative."
More than a third of those polled, however, see him as indecisive in military matters.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll of 975 adults was taken shortly after the bombing of Libya - now being refered to as a "kinetic military action" by the administration. Of those polled, only 20 percent strongly supported the President's actions.
The Obama administration is known for dithering on matters pertaining to the military and national security. In 2009, the President spent months consulting with aides and military brass before deciding to send additional troops to Afghanistan. When the crisis in Libya started, Obama dithered while Americans waited to be rescued. Finally, the Administration chartered a ferry to transport U.S. citizens out of Libya.
"Careful consideration" is fine, but how long does it take Obama to make a decision? On issues like socialized medicine, minutes; On anything dealing with national security, months.
The President has come under fire from both Democrats and Republicans for his actions. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) has called for his impeachment over the "kinetic military action" and Republicans are demanding the President lay out the reason for the action as well as an exit strategy.
