I thought it was quite interesting to listen to the man talk about his technology. Strong Italian accent, but very understandable -- he was forthcoming and direct, I thought.

I've all but stopped listening to C2CAM. It's barely a shadow of its former self.

They used to sprinkle in real guests, but now, not so much.

I'm trying to figure out if the old Art Bell reruns on that some stations run before the scheduled Saturday night show help or hurt.

That is, a 15-old-year AB show is a heck of a lot more engaging than the pap that generally follows.

FWIW, I time-shift the show, and read on the web page whether any of it is worth listening to. The news segment portion occasionally has a brief topic or commentator.

Rossi is scheduled to have a pilot plant up and running in Greece by the end of October, producing a megawatt-equivalent of process-heat.

I'll start being more interested when I see his stuff actually working and producing billable energy.

There was a segment on Greek national TV about Rossi's upcoming Greek plant last month.

If it works, the world will have changed. I'm been following this since February and haven't seen any direct evidence of fraud or that the claims are exaggerated yet, though there are circumstantial reasons (beyond the usual generic healthy skepticism) to wonder if this is all on the up and up.

If it is real, every car engine, every power plant in the world is going to become instantly obsolete. Oil-producing economies/nations will implode overnight; the auto industry I work in will face a sudden re-engineering of every vehicle in production (a thought I do not relish, we're busy enough already!) as competitors rush to be first to market with new vehicles (no one will want to buy a used gas-powered car, much less a new one, while they wait for the new powertrains). Utilities will collapse because people and businesses will prefer to simply have their own Rossi/Focardi reactors in their own homes/workplaces, and so on. And that is just the tip of the iceberg of the changes we'd face.

That's why my fundamental reason for skepticism is theological: I just have a hard time believing God would make it so easy for us!

Assuming this thing actually is on the level, the thermal plant is the first stage. Step one is producing hot water.

Step two is seeing if the effect allows you to produce water hot enough to generate steam, and thus run a turbine for an electric generator. This involves more engineering and expense. It might be that the effect stops working above a certain temperature.

Even if they don't get past Step One, the effect would still be useful for heating buildings and making hot water, which consumes a large percentage of our annual energy budget.

Rossi was asked about that in a recent Q&A session:

http://www.nyteknik.se/nyheter/energi_miljo/energi/article3126617.ece

Dr Fast: When considering your device as a part of a rankine cycle, what temperatures are achievable?

Rossi: up to 500-550 °C

Assuming this thing actually is on the level,

Bad assumption based on Rossi's past.

There's a difference between what you THINK you might be able to do, and actually having a working device that successfully does it, which was my point. As with everything here, I'll start jumping up and down with excitement when I see undisputed evidence from a WORKING pilot plant.

Very good point — unless there’s a working product it doesn’t matter a whole lot. But I find the possibilities interesting which keeps me following the Rossi story.

If you’re maintaining a cold-fusion ping list, please put me on it.

London nickel price at $12.31/lb.

If Rossi is legit, you should be investing in nickel.

Nah, someone did an analysis, and found that even if the entire planet was running on his technology, it would only take a small fraction of the nickel mined per year to fuel the reactors.
