Congress needs to seriously consider impeaching the power-mad President Barack Obama. He has unilaterally decided to commit the U.S. to a conflict in Libya that might last a decade or more.
Overthrowing the Libyan government will likely require an invasion because bombing the enemy into submission didn't work in Vietnam or Iraq. If Obama succeeds in destroying the Libyan army, someone will be stuck with trying to set up a new government or risk having the country become a lawless region like Somalia.
President Lyndon Johnson may have misled Congress (as some Senators subsequently claimed) to gain approval of the Tonkin Gulf Resolution, but he did consult Congress before committing the nation to the Vietnam War.
President George W. Bush may have overstated the threat posed by Saddam Hussein to gain congressional approval for an invasion, but Bush did consult with Congress before invading Iraq.
Obama appears to have turned control of American military policy over to the European governments that depend on Libyan oil and may want to take over Libya so they can control oil prices. Only 80 years ago European governments controlled much of North Africa and the Middle East, including Libya.
Obama's apparent subservience to the Europeans is of particular concern because regardless of where he was born he was born a British subject because his father was a British subject and the British government didn't care where the children of its subjects were born. If he didn't formally renounce that citizenship, he may still be a British citizen.
When is Free Republic going to update its spell checker so that it recognizes Barack Obama is correctly spelled even if his brain may be defective.

Obama's allegiance is not to the US, that much is clear. But no way is it to the UK, either. No, Obama's loyalty is to Marx and Lenin and maybe even the seventh-century child molester Mohammed!

This is surprising...a previous article postulated that what drives Obama is hatred of white colonialists, starting with the British....following the tratment of his father in Kenya as a Mau-Mau suspect.
If so he would hardly hand over control of Libyan oil to ex-colonialists such as the British/French/Italians.
My guess is that Obama is so screwed up he doesn't know what day it is ...let alone what century.
