Which one has less lipstick on? (Palin or Pawlenty?)

Comparing Tim Pawlenty’s cover and Governor Palin’s, you can’t help but notice the similarities. Courage to Stand was released over a year after the governor released Going Rogue. Let’s see how the two match up:

I take back my non sequitur comment. Actually FR is full of snarky voters. I am one of them. That is part of the fun of FR. I don’t take any of this stuff too seriously, however. There is a high level of well read folks in here that use sarcasm and humor to make their points. Others are blunt and...snarky.
But can she appeal to folks beyond the hardcore political type voters who like to mix it up? Will the Palin supporters be there for her if she starts going wobbly to get votes?
Gator, I suppose you can poke me in the chest even though I will be voting for her. ;)

Carpe sputum, yitbo.

Your pechant for grand statements and sweeping generalizations renders you a poor jurist of others' forms of expression, "dramatic" or otherwise. Poking fun at my glass eye is way over the line, weasel.

Then I won’t need to poke you. LOL You can help me find those critters, but I get to keep their pelts.

"... if she starts going wobbly to get votes?'

You are either the worst judge of human nature on two legs (you do have two...?), or the least observant FReeper on record.

The obvious alternative is most usually the correct indicator, and that is that you are projecting. You assume that, because you would behave in a given manner, the same is obviously true of those around you.

Sarah Palin has never "gone wobbly" for votes or any other type of personal gain, and she rightly despises those who do, and those who suggest she is capable of so doing despite her decades-long public record of doing the opposite.

Giving voice to such thought patterns says much more about you than it does about those upon whom you fixate.

So she’s never gone wobbly for personal gain? Where would becoming McCain’s running mate rate?
You were funny, now you are snarky.

You make some valid points Matt. I too have some anxiety that a lot of us expect Sarah to be perfect, yet she is just another human being who has been “chosen” for this time. She will surely disappoint us simply because no one can please everybody all the time. I do see her as one who is touched by the magic “it” factor, and that makes her a formidable candidate. I pray for her.

Yeah, bringing a real, strong, principled constitutional conservative to the other half of the McCain ticket... how freakin' wobbly is that, HUH?!

You are about as badly twisted as they come, "Hater". You have my sincere sympathy. Being you must be pure hell, living that 'glass half-filled with pus' thing you think is an actual, normal life.

Oh, and nice evasion of my apparently spot-on psychological appraisal. The Lib Psychos have nothing on you when it comes to trying to avoid the sore-spot subject.

LMAO!

You're very kind. In fact, these "I really like Palin, but..," no-sac-having phonies bring out my Irish, if you know what I mean. Never was there a more grandiloquent, evocatively spoken, or totally delinquent pack of scoundrels ever born than we opinionated Irish bustards... thank you very much!

Sweet-talk the paint and the perfume off of a harlot, given half a chance! (not to mention the knickers...)

“Just know that the political season gets pretty heated, no matter where you choose to watch it from, or with whom. Cracking a few jokes about some schlub’s choice of lipgloss is actually pretty harmless, unless you’re an absolute tool. It’s not like somebody tried to accuse him of things he never said, or twist his record of accomplishments. It’s just a silly jape. Get over it. As Sarah would say, “Buck up, or stay in the truck.”

Right on, Bubba.

“She QUIT her job! She was elected by people who worked and gave money for her to be governor for 4 years. (Spare me the tape recorded message about the reasons she resigned)”

My issue is that people who are too stupid to understand the reasons she resigned are allowed to vote.

But it's OK for others to tear Palin down, right?

No, it's not okay. I have faith in the strong quality of Sarah Palin as a candidate. I would rather sell her strengths to win more supporters than allow the detractors to drive the debate(as in control each Palin thread) with their small-minded, immature negativism. I'm a bit saddened by the extremely thin skin of some Palin supporters.

You are nasty SOB aren’t you? I ignore pseudo psychiatrists on message boards as I find they have some inner need to point out their own inadequacies.
Go to hell. Analyze that.

I have heard all the reasons. They are lame. Boy you Palinistas are a nasty bunch. Will turn on a FRpeer who doesn’t share your admiration of a politician. If her supporters are this divisive, winning won’t be an option.

I respect your point of view and she certainly is a potential lightning rod for next election should she choose to run. But these types with the nasty replies to me...it will throw them for a loop the first time she does something that this image they have created shouldn’t be doing.

It’s politics, nothing surprises me anymore. She is a politician and a smart one at that. I don’t know what else I can say other than I intend to vote for her over any misgivings I may have about her. Apparently that is not good enough for some of these miserable people; I suppose I need to go to confession or something. LOL

She has a demographic of fans in her hip pocket. It is small, however, and she will somehow need to garner the support of people who neither pay attention to politics or get their interpretation of Gov Palin from SNL. To win a presidential nomination and an election, you have to win these voters, unfortunately.

Subliminal suggestion is a non-starter with trained, dedicated snake-eaters.

Repeatedly overusing the ineffectual ploy of suggesting to those who defend Palin's record here from unwarrented, unjustified attacks by lying pack-hyenas, that our defense of her will cause her to lose (by some apparent stroke of strange magic from your evil Pixie dust, perhaps?) doesn't fool anyone. Despite that it may seem momentarily comforting to you... until I point out to you what a feeble ploy it is.

Nothing we say here will affect her landslide victory. She is bigger than all of us. Much bigger. Leviathan.

Not to mention, it's the fourth time you've attempted it. You're clearly running out of material.

Concerning your last paragraph. Sarah will need to attract the attention of those who pay no attention to politics. I believe that is the very reason she did the “reality” show and allowed Bristol to do the DWS show. She is now a well-known figure among the “television” population. The Alaska travelogue was perfect for that. It was both “folksy” and tastefully done. She was able to get in her political points on how she will handle things. “Common sense and conservative, strong work ethic, family oriented.” Her political instincts are extremely good. I trust her on that point. She is so politically smart, I don’t get out of joint when she does something that appears to be counter to the way we think she should do it.
