...The final straw for voters, however, was Mayor Alvarez’s push for a 12% property tax hike. This tax increase would have hit Miami-Dade residents in the gut at a time when they are still suffering in an area that was one of the hardest hit by the recent recession. To top it all off, this attempted tax hike came at the same time the Mayor agreed to increase pay and unfreeze benefits for unionized public workers.
Mayor Alavarez demonstrated time and again that he was more committed to securing handouts for public sector unions, shady baseball team owners, and personal friends than he was to closing the county’s $444 million budget gap. His proposed tax hikes would have further crippled the South Florida economy in the name of closing that budget gap, when simply asking for a few financial documents from the people for whom you are borrowing $400 million would have made tremendous strides in that direction. Miami-Dade voters’ stunning rejection of these public officials is proof that the American people are fed up with liberal tax and spend policies. Perhaps recall organizer Norman Braman should take his talents away from South Beach and help the rest of the nation accomplish what Miami-Dade County has.

I’m not from FL, so maybe I’m missing something - but Miami Dade went for Obama by 57.8 to 41.7.
Shouldn’t the lefties down there be in favor of higher salaries for public unions, higher taxes, and more Gov’t spending? Why are they so upset now?

Liberals are only for higher taxes when they’re other people’s taxes. When you start going after their money, it becomes personal.
Four answers:
(1) Double dip Voters from up North. They vote in two states. A very significant vote bloc. They are not much of a factor in this sort of vote.
(2) Vote Fraud. Massive here.
(3)The people who pay the taxes tend to live here full time. They are hit with 12% ++ unemployment. No real estate action. Lower tourist revenue.
(4)The massive welfare rolls do not tend to turn up for this sort of electoral event. No time for the Left to mobilize them and organize the fraud.
It is also quite possible that many of the electorate are slowly beginning to realize that the POTUS is a raving Left Wing Lunatic, with '0' administrative skills or any other beyond reading a teleprompter, just like Alvarez and many another Democrat. Face it, many voted for Obama out of sheer MSM-generated pique with W and because like it would be cool to have a "black" dude in the big job.
It's as if everyone had gone all-out to bring Jackie Robinson to the major leagues, only to discover that the Negro actually couldn't play ball! OOPS! Are Obama voters too embarrassed to admit this?
