A Presbyterian Reverend attacked Palin yesterday, there was an FR thread about that. No context at all.
I responded on the thread at #30 but since nobody saw it I posted the response on my long-abandoned blog:

Yesterday I heard she was given a warm reception and officials had kind words. So what’s the real story?
Sorry, but I did not see the insult in this.
>>What does this say about the state of affairs in the next election? <<
It’s going to be 5 times nastier next year. That’s why Palin learned her lesson. Keep away for now, let Ginrich, Giuliani and Ramoney whore themselves to the MSM and acquire the cross-hairs.
I watched it live, and I didn’t see any insults. If anything, he told her he had lots of nice things to say about her. He seemed gracious enough to me.
Wow. I’m sorry noob.....I didn’t hear what you little POS agitators and trolls hope happens. Go screw yourself.....;)
Her introduction included mention of the crap that was said about her in the “Lame Stream Media” but her reputation as an intelligent competitor preceded her and in the clip, there was only respect.
Just watched the video, what insults?
The only egregious thing about that intro is the length of it, but maybe that’s the way they do it at that conference.
And the guy seemed to agree with the people who elected Obama that he was seen as a god or prophet...gag.
What video did you watch? We did not see the same thing.

Sarah says “Thanks for your wonderful introduction and showing me your famous Indian hospitality .... bless your heart”
BTTT
Nothing insulting there; quite the contrary. That was an awesome introduction.
The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation. Barack Obama, December 20, 2007
Do you have any videos of this speech? It could help in the impeachment hearings the left wing rats want. LOL
One of the big issues in foreign affairs is the complexity and pitfalls of intercultural communication (I know, Captain Obvious strikes again), and what may seek like mocking to us may in fact have been preemptive clearing of some “standard objections” to Palin created by our media.
I felt what you felt, but I analyzed it differently. If I were invited to speak to such a group, I would not appreciate being reminded of notable smears and purported gaffes held against me. But I really think the speaker was not actively trying to insult her, but simply trying to acknowledge these things are out there, on some people’s minds, and in effect was using them to give her a chance to get some separation between herself and the American media.
As for the sexist remarks, well, yes, by our standards they absolutely were sexist. For example, if Romney looked like McCain, would he have anywhere near the traction he does? I doubt it.
But Indian culture isn’t PC on gender, and there is a widely distributed and deeply ingrained perception of women as inherently belonging to a lower social stratum, making an exceptional woman even more exceptional than an exceptional man (BTW, I will brook no dispute on this last point as I know the truth of it from direct experience, and it is also confirmed objectively by the disproportionate number of unborn female children who fall victim to abortion in India). In that context, the speaker may not have been aware of just how sexist his remarks sounded to an American audience.
So, overall, I’m saying this is just an awkward moment in intercultural communication, which, although she clearly winced at some of the comments as she listened, she handled with charm and grace when it was her turn at the podium. IMHO, insult or not, her foreign affairs creds just got a serious boost.
