The Bay Area Council, a business group made up of 275 of the San Francisco areas largest firms, today called on the state legislature to find a way to work with Governor Jerry Brown, and close the states $26.6 billion budget deficit. In a letter faxed to each member of the Senate and Assembly in Sacramento, the group urged members to embrace the spirit of compromise. The Council last week endorsed Browns plan after a meeting between Brown and the groups executive committee (see story). Jim Wunderman, President and CEO of the Council, said at the time that not everything Brown proposed was to the groups liking. Our members dont like the higher taxes, which run counter to expanding business and jobs in the state. But on balance, we need to be part of the solution and we support the Governors proposal overall.

It was Brown who gave the State employee collective bargaining in the first place. He’s the one who’s responsible for having created this mess.

The following are off limits in CA in order to resolve its budget deficits: Public workers pay, pensions and benefits, spending in any form for illegals, drilling for gas and oil, environmental concerns for fish, fowl or any form of wildlife, governmental perks or donations to the national DNC.
CA, you are holding on to the last few inches of a greased rope.

Don’t cede them even one one dollar of a tax increase GOP.
D’Rats OWN the budget mess so let them ‘fix’ it if they insist on raising taxes.

These 275 largest Bay-area businesses will be at the head of the line for tax incentives and breaks and government contracts as the result of their "reluctant" support for the tax increases, while their lobbyists will ensure that almost all of the burden falls on small businesses and individual taxpayers. California is not undertaxed. The answer to California's problem should be as clear as the noses on the democrats' faces, but they of course will fight ferociously to keep their masters, California state and local government workers and their unions, from feeling anything but the most token pain.
