President Obama fiddles as the world burns

Legend has it Emperor Nero fiddled while Rome burned. True or not, the story serves as a fitting analogy for current events.

The world is on fire. Meanwhile, President Obama dithers and fiddles. From the Middle East to the American Midwest, people are angry and up in arms.

In the Middle East, one country – Egypt – has already experienced regime change at the hands of street protesters, and another is embroiled in a civil war. Unrest has broken out in almost all of the Arab countries in the region.

In the United States, Democrats, progressives, socialists and other far-left wing agitators joined forces with union protesters in an effort to undermine the duly elected government of Wisconsin. Now, they are working to spread unrest across America.

But where is President Obama?

The world used to look to the President of the United States for strength and leadership. Unfortunately, this President is too busy to deal with minor inconveniences like insurrection and civil war.

Unfortunately, America did not elect a leader in 2008, but an agitator with no executive experience and no idea of what true leadership means.

Consider the situation in Libya, a nation in the midst of a brutal civil war.

It took the President nine days to even speak out on the situation, and when he did, his response was tepid at best.

Hundreds of Americans were stuck in Libya, and despite being President of the most powerful country on earth, Obama did not send one single military aircraft or naval vessel out of fear someone might get the wrong idea.

pRes_ _ent Obama is not fiddling.

For his FIRST week in office when he helped the COLE bombers
and other terrorists, he has helped America's enemies.
Every one. Every day.

"Obama Obama shifts FBI from Counter Terrorism to Fraud"

"Victims of Cole bombing upset
"A top officer slammed Obama's decision to seek the withdrawal of charges against the 2000 suspected U.S.S. Cole ship bomber."

"Impeach Obama Says Sister of Cole Sailor Killed in Terror Attacks
"The sister of Seaman James McDaniels, a sailor killed in the terror attack on the U.S.S. Cole wants President Barack Hussein Obama impeached
over his decision to withdraw charges against the al Qaeda mastermind of the attack."

"Mother of USS Cole Sailor Declines Obama-meet, Says "I Voted for the Wrong Person"
"After Obama dropped the charges against the suspect in the bombing of the USS Cole,
he asked the families of the victims in that tragedy to meet with him.
One mother refused, and now says,"I voted for the wrong person."

I have seen no cogent explanation of what action the president should have taken that would have inarguably been in the interests of the USA.

The idea behind this story seems to be that the US must insert itself into every conflict on the planet, because we are the most powerful country.

This is silly. We should choose which conflicts to intervene in, not have intervention as our default position.

Sometimes it’s better to just sit there, rather than do something. (I have no idea whether that is the case in this situation. And I suspect neither does anyone else.)

It’s too early. I missed this as an examiner site. Leave it to the Overlord to be on top of things.

From the Middle East to the American Midwest, people are angry and up in arms.

Yes, those situations are exactly alike....

The author is hyperventilating.

Does anyone remember who started the fire? How far does the comparison go?

What is sad is Obama fiddling as the world burns is not a problem because the only thing worse than Obama doing nothing is Obama doing something.

From my studies into the background stories of 1 Peter, Nero loved to destroy things...and then rebuild them. Long story short, for whatever reason, Rome was next on his list.

So the front part of the “Nero fiddled while Rome burned” is that Nero set the fire.

Problem was, the Romans weren’t too happy about their city being burned down, and looked to hold someone responsible for it. So Nero needed a scapegoat - and created one in the Christians. Thus was started a horrible period of persecution against the Christians in Rome, which included the invention of the “Roman candle” - dipping a person in pitch (oil), and setting him/her on fire, in order to light Nero’s garden, while he played his fiddle.

So the old saying “Nero fiddled while Rome burned” doesn’t go far enough - to tell that Nero burned it, and meant to burn it. Thankfully Soetoro hasn’t dipped any Tea Partiers in oil and used them to light the White House organic garden...yet...

Obama’s supporters are not smart enough to understand the analogy. Most probably have never heard of Rome, much less Nero and his fiddle.

The dumbing down of our nation has become a crises for Liberty.
